JENNIFER BUSUTTIL
OBJECTIVE
My undergraduate degree equipped me with rigorous theoretical and practical knowledge of biological principles. I have been trained to appreciate the principles of scientific method. I am trained to design, analyse and evaluate research and I am familiar with handling and searching scientific information. Following my undergraduate studies I have worked in one of the most prestigious genomics laboratories in the world, learned state of the art technologies and participated in international large-scale genomics projects. I am confident and skilled in general laboratory practice and also master many of the advanced experimental techniques involved in e.g. next generation sequencing and high throughput genomics. I am highly motivated, positive person who can work effectively either independently or as a team member. I am also, strongly enthusiastic and eager to demonstrate the necessary attitude to achieve an employer’s goal. Sound academic results emphasize personal commitment towards growth. Possess great social, organizational and leadership skills as well as an extreme passion for scientific research.

Internship/ Undergraduate Thesis Project
Identifying phenotypical variations between the two whole genome sequenced Drosophila species melanogaster and virils using confocal imaging.
o The project aimed to further morphologically characterize the two fully sequenced Drosophila species in order to enable correlation of phenotypic and genotypic differences.
o Coordinating overall research process including data preparation, analysis, written report, and presentation upon completion of study.
o Performed micro/macro dissection of specimens, preparation of mounting media, reagents, slides and imaged structures using CLSM and MDIS.
