I currently supervise 7 LAN Administrators and 2 Network Support Specialist while managing a Windows 2003/2008 distributed network over 53 locations. The network consists of 1500 Vista desktops and 90 servers (Windows 2003/2008, Solaris Unix, SQL2005, Exchange 2003 and Oracle 10G). My responsibilities also include assessing the Philadelphia Free Library’s information management and network technology needs; developing preliminary system configurations for the acquisition of add-on hardware and software; reviewing product comparisons to facilitate recommendation and requisition of software and hardware; confer with vendors to devise implementation plans for installation projects; direct installation of hardware, application software and operating systems; provide direction to technicians regarding installation and maintenance of hardware components; monitor network performance; ensure response time is within acceptable limits; and direct subordinates in the provision of first level problem resolution; insure network availability; develop and maintain disaster recovery plans; oversight of system backup at regular intervals; develop and implement strategies for system security; determine correct methods for attaining access; establish levels of access for users; and routine issuance and updating of security measures.
