WORK EXPERIENCE AND RELEVANT PROJECTS:

Nov 2010 – Present: Research Analyst, Tufts University School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Medford, MA (Part time position)

Responsible to obtain and compile data from MHDL, wunderground.com and Milwaukee schools from publicly available sources. Developed SAS code for - exploratory analysis, Generalized Linear Models to assess seasonality for each influenza strain and its associations with temperature, humidity and school closures. Literature search and review. Contributed to writing background and methods section of abstract. Abstract accepted at ISEE conference. Contributed to preparation of Poster. Publication in preparation.

Other pieces: Responsible for collaboration with State Lab to complete data use agreement, request for permission to use data for class. Co-coordinating and managing the move for the entire team. Completing required paper work and interacting with personnel at Research Data Assistance Center to obtain remaining CMS data.

Sept 2007- Sept 2010: Statistician II, The New England Research Institutes (CRO), Watertown, MA (Full time position)

Projects and responsibilities:

VQA: Responsible for obtaining data, running standardized programs for proficiency testing and qualification testing of HIV assays submitted by labs (RNA, DNA, Gene sequencing). Developed new code to - atomize the existing SAS programs, and for newer research to compare the more recent assays and hence better scoring schemes. Created graphs in SAS and S-plus for presentations and on-going research. Supervision of data analyst to compile data. Contributed to writing sections of Memo. Weekly meetings to understand any data issues with labs or updates. Provided support in answering any questions at monthly meeting for qualification testing with VQAAB group.

MOHS: Developed SAS programs to assess the oral health status of children in kindergarten, third, and sixth grades in Massachusetts. Estimates provided for state as whole and 14 counties. Generated figures and 10 tables for each of the 14 counties for the report. Supervised a research assistant to update the tables under a tight deadline. Sat in weekly meeting to answer any questions about the created tables, to know what client is interested in. Responsible to send data, programs, and documentation to client. Results were released in a well-attended & well-received presentation at the Massachusetts State House in January 2008.

WHN: Complex data manipulations to convert multiple lines data to one line. Developed SAS programs to - generate figures, tables, time to event analysis, forest plots. Contributed to writing sections of time to event analysis report. Lead many weekly conference calls, gave overview of each table with interpretation of most important numbers. Interacted with researchers at Harvard School of Public Health, presented results to the director of WHN.

BACH/Urinary Incontinence: Developed SAS program for a typical Table 1 in the publication, to describe weighted characteristics, overall and by post-micturition symptoms status in the Boston Area Community Health Survey.

Lilly Project: Research methods for developing minimal clinically important differences in patient reported outcomes using anchor-based and distribution-based techniques; discussion with senior statistician for methodology; in a development sample, determined MCIDs using two statistical methods: ANOVA and ROC; in a validation sample, evaluate the MCIDs across subgroups: treatment group, disease severity groups, age groups, regions, and disease duration groups; developed MCIDs within disease severity. Developed data dictionary for the variables. Checks on accuracy and validity of data obtained. Developed SAS code for all analysis and random number generation. Involved in the project, with a senior statistician, from its initiation. Weekly meetings to discuss issues with senior statistician and epidemiologist, understand client needs, ask questions to Lily statistician.

Other pieces: As per need, jump in on other projects to churn out small pieces of analysis, or produce graphs. QC programs developed by other statisticians as per the in-house SOP guidelines. Co-teaching basic SAS class for in-house data managers(a few times).

Nov 2005 – Sept 2007: Data Analyst, Department of Public Health, TUSM, Boston, MA (Part time position)

Responsibilities: Obtained data from the State Lab. Discussion with data co-coordinator at State Lab to resolve issues with the quality of data. Programmed SAS code to take care of missing values, outliers, preparing data sets for analysis. Exploratory data analysis. Statistical modeling: generalized linear models with harmonics for assessment of seasonality of infectious diseases. Developed an extensive SAS macro to efficiently provide the seasonality characteristics for 49 states and 13 influenza seasons in MA. Developed SAS code for population pyramids for four enteric infections and 1990&2000 censuses. Provide other team members with SAS code and explanation of its application required for their analysis. Conducted a SAS lab for team members to explain some key SAS procedures useful in time series analysis. Involved in journal club. Supervision of a student for her summer internship project (summer 2006).

Dec 2004 – Mar 2005: Intern, Instructional designer, Maximize learning, Pune, India.

Responsibilities: Worked on a project with a university to do story boarding. Medical text about parasites made into interactive story boards.

customer analysis and measurement of marketing programs.

Responsibilities included: data request and verification, specifications to SAS programmers for processing of raw transaction data, qc of reports to prior results, running SAS programs to weight and analyze data, and preparation of final results in a power point presentation. All the work involved interaction with project team members and clients.

Responsibilities included: Programmed SAS code essential to obtain figures that entered the following documents: Financial reports, by state performance documents. Updated the final draft of the support documents for the last 6 months. Compiled Support documents for months of Jan- Mar 01.
