Performed, reviewed and supervised the collection of study data for mutiple projects, using various analytical techniques such as GC, GC/MS, LC, LC/MSMS, LC/QTOF, ICPMS, LC-ICPMS and many others.

Supervised general laboratory functions and coordinated operations for production and research laboratories under GLP (FDA) environment, such as a seven year program staffed with ten to fifteen people and five dedicated laboratories involving baseline analysis and support services for mainstream cigarette smoke chemistry.

Transitioned a support services section to an independent business unit serving as Analytical Chemistry, Bioanalytical Chemistry and Test Article laboratories, providing GLP compliant analytical chemistry support for all non-clinical (pre-clinical) IND/ NDA enabling studies performed in-house primarily by the Toxicology Division.

Provided support involving chemo prevention research for the National Cancer Institute by coordinating and managing the accessioning, storage and dose formulation of lead compounds, optimization of dosing schedules, identifying delivery strategies, analysis of dose formulations, including solutions, suspensions, diets, emulsions or atmospheres (neat or formulated).

Developed assays for independent studies such as; diol quantification by GCTCD, terpene identification by GCMS, enzyme hydrolysis of proteins into their respective amino acid via derivatized hydrosilates analyzed by HPLC, Adsorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Excretion studies with radio-labeled (14C & 3H) compounds.

Maintained GLP compliance by performing and assuring analytical instrument qualification (AIQ, DQ, IQ, OQ and PQ), became proficient with the associated instrument control and data processing applications and developed maintenance procedures for such instrumentation.

Served as part of the uinitial advisory group developing computer validation and qualification protocols.

Developed multiple standard operating procedures to improve quality and throughput of laboratory operations.

Transitioned an analytical chemistry services section to a fully independent analytical chemistry division by improving data handling with improved documentation and implementing data management software and components of LIMS applications.

Provided Business Development support, inlcuding lead generation, client maintenance and support, marketing and technical application advisor and aboratory liaison to address general and technical information

Provide support to Marketing and Social Media efforts by developing, designing and implementing, website content management, social media blogs, advertising and marketing campaigns.

Upheld division goals and adhered to the corporate mission of scientific excellence by performing, leading and influencing others, by holding membership in the Enviromental Health and Safety Committee, the Radiation Safety Committee, and the Continuing Education Committee.

Turned around lab operations from a two year backlog and negative revenue to no backlog, close to five million dollar gross revenue and almost one million dollar net profit.

Prior to IITRI, at MecStat Labs / USDTL / Avitar Technologies, Inc, gained forensic toxicology laboratory experience also includes performing GC/MS method development and validation, immunoassay development of rapid tests for drugs of abuse and infectious diseases, certification of analytical results, review all toxicological screening and confirmatory results, while coordinating all laboratory shift functions as well as establishing safety committee, QC/QA committee and continuing cducation program goals.

Avitar Technologies, Inc. / United States Drug Testing Labs Des Plaines, IL

Research Scientist 2000– 2001

United States Drug Testing Laboratories / MecStat Labs Des Plaines, IL

Certifying Scientist / Laboratory Manager 1997- 2000

Evening General Laboratory Supervisor 1996- 1997

Laboratory Technologist 1995- 1996

Started as a part-time tech through laboratory manager and cetifying scientist with duties ranging from bench top lab work to managing daily operations of therapeutic drug monitoring, drugs of abuse, forensic toxicology, production laboratory and all other laboratory functions.

Served as expert witness, prepared litigation data packets, and defended laboratory findings in hirings and communications with law enforcement, court orders, as well as employment and custody services.

Performed certifyed and released all analytical results for all the toxicological screenings & confirmations of biological specimens, using various sample preparation techniques which included SPE, LPE with data generated through ELISA, FPIA & EMIT assays, as well as GC/MS techniques.

As the laboratory manager, I supervised all lab functions, such as scheduling and hiring of all personnel, perform personnel training, evaluations and performance reviews. With additional staff, I maintained the physical laboratory inventory and determined all the purchasing needs.

Developed Immunoassay rapid test kits for drugs of abuse and infectious diseases. R&D efforts including product development, QA by performing comparison studies for point-of-care models against laboratory based analysis using GC/MS techniques which supported R & D and FDA submittal work for the new leadership.

Performed basic research that led to the development and validation of GC/MS methods for assays such as Carboxy-THC in hair, Rohypnol in hair, Methadone in urine, Flunitrazepam in hair and Cannabinoids in oral fluid.

Serving at the behest of the laboratory director, performed method research and development, coordinated and lead a safety committee, a QC/QA committee and a continuing education program and served as laboratory liaison to address client technical questions as well as general information and assisted in taking the lab operations from roughly $600 thousand gross yearly revenue to almost dubling to just a bit over one million dollars as well as sssisted in transitioning through a buyout and merger.
