To whom it may concern,
I am interested in applying for an internship at The Kenwood Therapy Center and would be honored to be one of your chosen candidates.
My experience in education has given me valuable insight regarding working with both children and adults. I have taught elementary school on a military base and worked with children and parents who face deployment, war, and major life changes on a daily basis. As a former teacher I have worked with multiculturalism and have experienced several different cultures and customs as well.
Other life experiences have also given me insight in relationships and how they operate in unique situations. For example, I managed three Japanese restaurants, managed my staff while attending to operational duties, and customer relationships. In that role I learned to balance the performance of my professional duties while also meeting the needs of the individual staff members that I managed. This period in my life gave me leadership skills I could not have obtained anywhere except in that particular setting.
Currently, I am a homemaker raising my daughter and attending college. The opportunity to briefly step back from the work force while raising my daughter has given me tremendous insight of how "the work at home" is just as important as the "work outside of the home". It has humbled me and has helped me realize that when one part of the family system "breaks" or falls apart the whole family unit is affected. My time being a mother has also taught me how to be flexible, patient, and understanding.
All of these qualities are strengths which will help me work with clients wanting support and change in their current life situations. I have a strong interest and passion for helping families discover new ways to bring about wholeness and healing. The skills I have learned through the MFT program at Argosy University will provide a stable foundation for further instruction and will hopefully be a good match for your organization.
I would like to be considered for an internship at The Kenwood Therapy Center. If any additional information is needed I would be glad to provide it for you at your request.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Nancy Mohr
