Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer

Was accountable for the day-to-day responsibilities of assuring the quality of purchased electrical and electromechanical parts used in the manufacture of dishwashers through the use of supplier development methods and tools, interfacing with suppliers and working with them in improving their quality levels by way of quality review meetings, developing quality improvement programs, and evaluating corrective actions for effectiveness. Support the integration of new model lines/parts through upfront involvement in new supplier evaluations, new part/process evaluations, design reviews, and APQP/C2C & PPAP/FPA activities. Continual interface with Corporate Procurement and Product Engineering in support of Supplier Quality Initiatives and continuous improvement activities.

* Improved targeted supplier performance (SQR & PPM) by 20-30% per year by working with the 'Top 10' problem suppliers to improve total in house defects of known critical components and those with high field service incident rates.

* Aggressively focused on pursuing a zero defect philosophy for assigned suppliers in order to exceed internal quality goals and external SIR expectations.

* Coordinated and led numerous Quality Review meetings and supplier visits. Led or participated in Supplier Quality Audits as necessary.

* Reduced internal hold orders by 30% via proactive approach by coordinating numerous trial runs for new and modified/redesigned parts to identify line-impacting issues caused by supplier part problems and to assure and verify quality, form, fit, and function, prior to releasing for full production.

* Formed and Led the Division Wire Harness Task Force to address ergonomic and safety issues in assembly as well as harness component quality issues, and to drive the necessary wire harness changes.

* Originated Standard Operating Procedure Visuals (SOP's) and Quality Alerts to notify assembly of any part changes, issues, or deviations from the print.

* Led the effort to put together the Division Procedure for Incoming

Inspection & Test in support of bringing the plant into ISO 9000/TS 16949 compliance. Participated on the Control of Non-Conforming Product Procedure Team to put together a common procedure for handling non-conforming material throughout the plant.

* Was responsible for the Receiving Inspection function and supervised several receiving inspection technicians until its phase out. Coordinated 100% in house inspection of incoming parts as necessary. Improved in-house assembly defects to 7.6 percent against the goal of 8.6 percent through pareto analysis and prioritization.

* Maintained the Supplier Quality Rating (SQR) system for the division supply base (correction, adjustments, prepare and review SQR & PPM with suppliers on a monthly bases).
