Turn-around operation.
• Hands-on casting foreman of concrete septic and utility products in a lean environment.

This was a great opportunity for me learning to rely on past experiences and opportunities to “turn around” a production facility and regain current and past customer trust. I enjoyed very much having the freedom, responsibility and collaboration of all members of the team. This opportunity taught me the meaning of teamwork and “seat of the pants” ingenuity.

(2 years) Aug. 2005 – Aug. 2007 Stress-Con Industries, Inc. Detroit, Michigan
Production Manager – Detroit Casting
Ground-floor plant startup.
• This opportunity was from a past employer. I was asked to lead a startup casting operation by the owner of Nucon Schokbeton of Kalamazoo, MI. to produce industrial concrete wall panels and parking structures and “jumped at the chance”.
• Working in Detroit gave me the rare opportunity of starting a complete casting operation from the ground floor. This opportunity taught me how to relate to people, suppliers, contractors and plant employees gaining trust and mutual collaboration in balancing equipment, manpower and schedule.
This was an exceptional opportunity for a young person. Having very little resources and tight manufacturing schedules; this opportunity made me think on my feet. I had the pleasure of being a part of a very talented group and mutual reliance to achieve our goals. Together, we built nine, (9) independent production lines in seven months. This was a rare opportunity that taught me to rely and learn from team-mates and proved the synergy that can happen within a dynamic team.

Plant Manager – Casting
Established, growing production facility.
• This opportunity was my first introduction to a multi-shift production facility.
• I learned to prioritize work efficiently and plan the execution of operations across teams to achieve success.
• This opportunity taught me the ability to statistically “model” production and cost using my past mathematics education and hands on experience.
• Laid off – due to lack of business. 8/29/05
