Key individual responsible for the technical solutions of the organization. Created architecture for and persuaded key prospects to become customers, resulting in repeat business. Worked with all IT groups to ensure product delivery and collaboration between each group during project implementation. Negotiated the highest level of partnership with vendors, as well as exceptional pricing on technology and equipment (typically up to 70% off list).

• Managed the ultimate technical architecture the Senior Solution Architects would present to customers.

• Cut server deployment times from 3 days to 2 hours (92% reduction in time of implementation) by implementing virtual infrastructure systems (Xsigo).

• Cut fibre channel SAN infrastructure costs to 1/5th of conventional solutions by innovating with virtual infrastructure solutions.

Senior Systems Architect MAY 2008 – JANUARY 2010

Worked on a small team (primarily consisting of myself, another Systems Architect and a Network Engineer) to design and build a multimillion dollar best of breed datacenter.Created the primary architecture for the VMware and SAN private cloud offering from which Terenine bases all of their services.

• Created and cost justified the vision for Terenine to become a private cloud provider.

• Designed and implemented shared service architectures, which enabled customers to save up to 93% off capital costs. For example, first year expenditure would’ve been $1,036,356.02, but with the shared service architecture, the client’s needs were fulfilled by spending $37,032.84.

• Designed and productized the Terecluster. At only 10 Rack Units, the Terecluster is able to support most $50M/year businesses’ entire datacenter needs at 99.999% uptime.

• Moved a $200M+/year internet- based business out of a failing infrastructure to a brand new datacenter. The failing infrastructure caused the business to lose more than $10M/year in revenue, while the new infrastructure cost less than $2.4M to completely build out.

• Created best practices for using VMware, Force10 and LeftHand Networks storage (now the HP P4000 line of SANs) together in cloud environments.

• Designed the architecture for a massively scalable encrypted backup system, which would utilize a Disk to Disk to Tape methodology.

Linux Systems Administrator JULY 2007 – MAY 2008

Handled all aspects of the datacenter including: cabling, Windows systems, Linux systems, power infrastructure, databases and web servers. Increased infrastructure effectiveness and performed Cost/Benefit analysis resulting in management to enact a datacenter paradigm shift.

• Identified previously unknown campaign marketing email problems, increasing delivery from only .3% of viable email addresses to 99.9% of viable email addresses. This was crucial as 70% of the business’ revenue was dependent on email campaigns.

• Performed a Cost/Benefit and Cost/Cost analysis to prove the need to move from a distributed low availability environment to a highly available virtualized SAN based infrastructure. Upper Management immediately approved the proposal in full.

• Increased the performance of the business’ primary database 100x (as measured by “iostat”). Web analytics team confirmed “a substantial increase” in customer retention as a direct result.
