Clipper Corporation - $ 20MM international manufacturer & distributor of apparel & small wares.

Month end process, receivables & credit, FP&A, product costing, fixed assets, bank covenant, insurance, tax work & selected HR duties. Lead 5-person finance & accounting team.

Key Accomplishments

• Collected approx. $ 1.5MM in outstanding Accounts Receivable in 5 months from several large customers and paid off bank line saving approx. $ 90K in annualized interest expense.

• Redesigned the chart of accounts reducing from 51 pages down to 3 pages, resulting in a 60% reduction in Accounts Payable processing time.

Directed 8 person finance and accounting team, with Cenveo Anderson Lithograph responsibility for all finance-related processes and $125M budget. Month end, cost accounting, sales rep. commission calculation, corporate financial reporting, FP&A, SOX compliance, and managed internal and external audit.

• Teamed with VP Operations to reduce plant waste by 20% by shortening test run times and utilizing on hand raw materials.

• Implemented new sales rep. commissions reporting structure to enable timely and accurate commission reporting and payment, boosting sales morale and performance.

HH Retail Group - $ 43MM nationwide multi-location boutique retailer.

• Enabled $ 600K sales boost division wide by partnered with VP Ops. to redesign store product lay outs to maximize floor space for products with higher inventory turns and larger margins.

With President, directed team of 27, leading finance, product development, production, purchasing and distribution functions Improved overall organizational effectiveness, increasing cash flow while closely managing costs to drive profit growth. Reviewed daily system booking and shipping reports and proactively met with related personnel to adjust purchases to help optimize inventory carry and resulting cash flow. Led management team meetings. Drafted 3 year strategic plan.

Key Accomplishments

• Increased sales by approximately $ 400K by worked with Purchasing Manager to optimize fabric buys based on current bookings and curtail fabric buys on slow moving items; connected with sales for sales promos on such items.

• Shortened the production lead time by 2 weeks by implementing a company-wide project tracking system enabling improved communication between departments and more efficient operations; fostered quicker product to market times.

Operations Controller (09/01-04/04) (return to apparel industry)

California School of Culinary Arts - $ 44MM publicly traded instructional institution.

Led accounting and finance functions for the school’s 3 campuses. Directed 25-person multi-function team, including financial aid, accounts receivable, facility occupancy, and retail store. Worked closely with sales, marketing, and service delivery to consistently meet growth and profit objectives. Month end, heavy budgeting and forecasting, revenue projection, financial reporting, KPI’s, CapEx management, dealt with outside legal counsel on related issues, coordinated external audit, and business dealings with external vendors and suppliers.

Aramark Uniform Services & Career Apparel, Inc. - $ 1.6 billion dollar uniform service, distribution, & specialty sales. Directed 5 person finance team with $23M budget. Additionally responsible for month end, annual operating and CapEx budget, business review and coordinated legal review of all IT related software product and service agreements, IT staff project time management reporting, purchasing, vendor and banking relations, AP, fixed assets, and administration. Initially recruited as Senior Accountant in Financial Reporting and quickly promoted due to superior performance.

Key Accomplishments

• Enabled Corporate wide projected sales growth of $ 20MM, and saved $ 1M in annualized labor costs, by drafting proposal and getting corporate funding for a revised way of processing uniforms for wash and deliver to customers.

• Saved approximately $ 400K in annual equipment maintenance expense by proactively re-negotiated corporate wide hardware and software service agreements with major vendor and maintained existing service levels.
