• Direct experience in a major oil petrochemical plant covering process plants Welding Engineering / QA/QC and Inspection .
• Welding of Mechanical& Constructional On/Off Shore Installations, Fabrication, Erection , Including Manufacturing and Maintenance.
• Familiar with all techniques used in the inspection and repair of refinery equipment including heat exchangers, columns, vessels, furnaces, boilers, tanks, flares and piping.
• Shutdown inspection condition monitoring corrosion detection, monitoring and prevention, shutdown & proper up to date record keeping.
• Full understanding of different NDT methods and their application of equipment and piping monitoring and inspection.
• Sound knowledge of international codes/standards as applicable to inspection (ASTM, API, ASME, NACE, ANSI,.. etc). Anticipate equipment and piping retirements and initiate appropriate steps of renewal.
Duties/ Responsibilities Welding Engineer during the experience period
• suitably managing the synergies of team members and equipment used in order to optimize the human and technical resources one is in charge of;
• organizing, managing and coordinating the work of welders during various welding techniques, ensuring compliance with quality and safety procedures and standards;
• ensuring total understanding and implementation of all major contract requirements and project specifications;
• checking the use and storage of all welding material and equipment;
• supporting the QC supervisor and NDT operators in controlling and maintaining quality standards and identifying any tendencies for anomalies and defects to occur;
• monitoring welding parameters and reporting any deviations to the superintendent or assistant;
• providing for the training of welders/operators;
• maintaining a daily Site Diary;
• handling all welding technical queries and investigating all field welding related problems;
• preparing a Weld Map and/or mark up existing drawings;
• ensuring fully detailed documentation of all welding activities are raised and completed prior to handover;
• maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel working on the job site;
• coordinating with Engineering and Construction and liaising with the Client on detail welding requirements;
• ensuring that all Welding, Heat Treatment, any hardness testing, Inspection and Non-destructive testing are in compliance with the relevant codes and specifications;
• ensuring the use of the correct welding procedures and verifying all Welder qualifications and monitoring both application and performance;
• examining visually work in progress and effectively supervising repair procedures;
• reviewing welding requirements for field erected structures, vessels, tanks, boilers and other process plants;
