Dear Sir/Madam
I am interested in a Hospital Pharmacist position. I strongly believe that my education and employment background meet the prescribed requirements for the position.
I graduated from the University of Maryland with a Doctor of Pharmacy in May 2011 and am licensed as a Pharmacist in the state of Illinois. I am currently pursuing a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at NorthShore University HealthSystem, Illinois. The clinical residency incorporates various aspects that are essential for this position. Besides my professional training, my personal characteristics are also a great fit for this job position. I am motivated, dedicated, and have a strong work ethic.
My residency training has provided me with extensive experience in pharmacology and pharmacokinetics. Processing medication orders for appropriateness, providing clinical guidance to the various health care team members, and performing medication reconciliation to maintain a complete medication profile for the patients are all integral components of my current job. Pharmacists at NorthShore are also responsible for pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring of various antimicrobials and high risk medications. I was fortunate to gain experience in neonatal, oncology, cardiology, general medicine, and critical care areas for order verification and medication management as part of my residency. NorthShore follows a decentralized Pharmacist model where we are required to perform clinical as well as distributive functions throughout the residency year.
Research is an integral part of my current job description as well. The research projects that I completed were presented at pharmacy conferences and the results were utilized to make appropriate interventions to current practice. I am also well versed in evaluating current scientific literature to provide the most appropriate patient care possible and answering drug information questions for other healthcare providers.
Furthermore, being part of the healthcare team enabled me to develop proficient and flexible communication skills with members of a multi disciplinary team including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, administrators, and patients. An integral part of my residency is giving presentations to a variety of clinical committees including the pharmacy & therapeutics committee, anticoagulation task force, and the antimicrobial subcommittee. This has enabled me to develop exceptional presentation skills geared towards a variety of audiences.
In addition we had the opportunity enroll in teaching certificate program in collaboration with Rosalind Franklin University- School of Pharmacy. Being co-faculty at this University has extended my mentorship and teaching skills. I am also part of numerous resident run committees which require strong organizational and personnel management skills.
I am certain that if given the opportunity I will prove to be a valuable asset to the organization. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to meet with you and discuss your needs and my qualifications in more detail. I am available my phone at 410-***-****) or by email (*******@*****.***). Please feel free to contact me anytime. Thank you for your time and consideration.
