Overview: Rebuilt the safety program office that was inactive for the prior 18 months. Transformed medical center Environment of Care into JCAHO compliance within 12 months by performing hazard surveillance rounds, expediting medical equipment safety recalls, and rebuilding documentation trails.

COLORADO MENTAL HEALTH INSTITUTE, Pueblo, CO 2001 – 2003

Safety and Risk Manager

Reported to the Assistant Superintendent and managed safety and risk aspects of the JCAHO Environment of Care standard in this 600-bed, 18-building psychiatric care facility.

Overview: Rebuilt the safety program that was inactive for nearly 2 years. Changes I made brought facility back into compliance with JCAHO. Performed weekly environment of care rounds in all hospital areas, trained new and existing employees, and managed safety projects throughout the campus.

Specific Accomplishments:

• Built and managed Access database to track environment of care findings and resolutions.

• Authored and revised new hospital-wide Safety Manual and associated policies/procedures.

• Effectively supervised the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator in Safety Office.

Overview: Monitored the first assembly of the Delta IV Medium Upper Stage. Insured product was delivered on time and within budget by analyzing drawings, bills of material, tools, and schedules; performing bi-weekly production management reviews; and improving ergonomics.

MIRRO/WEAREVER, Manitowoc, WI 1995 – 1999

Senior Industrial Engineer - Ergonomics Specialist

Reported to Engineering Manager and managed the site ergonomics program and industrial engineering projects for this worldwide manufacturer of aluminum cookware and bake ware in nine plants (closed in 2003) that was a division of Newell Rubbermaid, Incorporated.

Overview: Changed ergonomics and industrial engineering related processes to reduce costs. Updated plant managers monthly on status, project managed new product timelines, and produced cost estimates.

Selected Accomplishments:

• Developed and implemented an effective ergonomics program that resulted in a 75% reduction in ergonomics-related Workers Compensation costs in less than four years.

• Generated and administered comprehensive ergonomics training to all employees and made ergonomics an essential element in the design and development of new processes and products.

• Increased ergonomics project completion rate by delegating and managing over 80 projects to six Industrial Engineers and seven Associate Involvement Teams.

• Led four supervisors and 80 associates to a record-high production month in October 1997 as acting second-shift production foreman.
