****-****- ********** *** *** Boggs family
I was an occasional babysitter, there whenever they needed me. Starting there were two children ages 6 months and 1.5. In 2005 they had another baby boy. I watched the three of them in their home. This job ended in the beginning of 2006 because the family moved away.
2004-2006- I worked for a catering company called Distinctive Gourmet
During concerts, car shows, basketball games, and so on I sold either cotton candy or dip n dots. I also set up, served food, greeted guests, and cleaned for dinners. I left this job when I moved away for college.
2004-2006- Babysitter for the Clonch family
I babysat for two girls, who started out at ages 4 and 6 when ever needed. I once watched them for a long weekend. I picked them up from school and took them to activities. When I was with them for the weekend I cooked every meal for them, took them to church, and took them to school on Monday. This job ended August of 2006 when I left for college.
May 2007-August 2007- Hostess at Quaker Steak and Lube
I greeted guests as they walked into the restaurant and led them to their table. I also made sure that bathrooms, TVs, game machines, and windows were clean at all times. This was a summer job while I was home from college.
December 2006-August 2008- Nursery worker
I worked in the nursery at Kankakee First Church. I worked every Sunday and Wednesday. I worked with infants to 3 year-olds. I changed diapers, fed, played with and took care of the children while their parents were enjoying the church services. I also did a Sunday school lesson for the 3 year-olds every Sunday morning. I left this job because I transferred to a school in a different state.
November 2007-August 2008- Babysitter for the Memenga family
I babysat for 3 children, a 9 year-old girl, and two 4 year-olds, a boy and girl. The boy was special needs. He could not walk, talk, or feed himself. I watched them from 8:00a.m.-4:30p.m. I made them breakfast and lunch and took them fun places like the pool, park, museums and so on. I left this job because I transferred to a school in a different state.
June 2009-December 2010- Mothers Helper for the Perry family
I helped take care of two girls ages 2 and 4. At times I had the girls by myself, sometimes one at a time and sometimes at the same time. Most of the time the mother was there and I was just a helping hand. I went on all vacations with them. Along with helping to care for the girls I also at times did laundry, ironing, and sanitized toys. My time with this family ended when the father decided to start his own at home business.
January 20011- current- Hostess at Longhorn Steakhouse
I greet people with a smile, take them to their seats, and clean the tables once the guests are finished. This is a great job, but this is the first time in 12 years that I am not working with children and I miss it dearly.
Volunteer work
1999-2006- Nursery Worker
Once a month I would work in the nursery at Southeast Church of the Nazarene. Starting off there were always two workers including me. As I got older and we had fewer children I was the only one there during the evening services unless there was more than 3 children.
2004-2006- Sunday School Teacher
During children’s church we switched out teachers throughout the month so that one person was not always missing church. So once a month I taught the 2-3 year olds.
2004-2006- Assistant Dance Instructor
I helped teach tap, jazz, and lyrical to the 2-3 year old class and the 10-13 year old class.
September 2011-present- Volunteer at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital
I volunteer in the diagnostic imaging department. I offer puzzles, coloring books, games, crafts, and so on to patients and families waiting to be called back.
Education
August 2006-August 2008- I went to Olivet Nazarene University in IL to study Child Development and psychology. During this time I had several practicum hours in different day cares and nurseries.
August 2008-December 2010- I went to Trevecca Nazarene University to study Early Childhood Education. During this time I had many practicum hours of observing and teaching grades K-3.
A little about me
I enjoy being active and just having a good time. I am a very hard worker and put great effort into everything I do, but I also love to have fun. I am very laid pack and easy-going. I absolutely love working with children. They are my passion. I love teaching children to just simply being silly and having fun with them. My dream is to become a Child Life Specialist and hopefully one day specialize in terminally ill patients. There is something so extremely special about those children and I cannot wait to be a part of their lives.
I also write children’s books for fun. I have written eight so far, but have not done anything with them yet.
