Weekly communication with assigned clients on water quality status and trending of results. Any other duties assigned to by the Lab Manager/Quality Manager. Proficient with water quality analysis of Ammonia, Cyanide, Total Coliform/E. Coli/Fecal bacteria, all Solids analyses, TKN, Biological Oxygen demand, Chemical oxygen demand, Chlorine, Turbidity, Alkalinity, Hardness, Calcium hardness and Foreign Matter. Proficient with water quality analysis of Nitrate, Nitrite, Fluoride, Chloride, Bromide, Sulfate and Phosphorus using Ion Chromatography. Some familiarity with metals analysis.
06/01-2006-6/30/10 Carolina Environmental Inc. Cary, NCn Title: Senior Asbestos Analyst Hours/Week: 40n Duties and Accomplishments: Project management and PLM bulk analysis, PLM point count analysis, PLM gravimetric reduction analysis and PCM air using EPA recommended methods. Daily duties included the use of PLM (Polarized light microscope) to test optical properties of various sample components, giving both the asbestos types and estimated percentages in the sample material for assigned laboratory projects. This includes preparing samples for analysis by first pulverizing the sample and preparing microscope slides of bulk materials. Also responsible for processing chain of custody and samples, preparing project reports for the clients, making sure clients receive reports by specified due dates, interacting with clients to ensure understanding of the results found in the reports, adhering to EPA recommended methods for analysis, and other various lab duties. Assessing sample matrices and determining the best appropriate test method, implementing the test method, and determining if further testing/alternate methods are needed based on evaluation. Maintenance of personal Polarized light microscope and all other laboratory equipment. Responsible for meeting all monthly and yearly NVLAP QC requirements and testing to ensure proficiency. Often assigned with acting hostess duties to visiting audit officers and important clients. Was CEI’s most productive employee of 2009 according to CEI yearly data and year-end reports.
08/2002-05/2006 Pfeiffer University Biology Dept. n Title: Science Research Fellow Hours/Week: 10+n Duties and Accomplishments: Pfeiffer University sponsors the Pfeiffer Research Program in the School of Natural and Health Sciences which seeks to develop scientists who are engaged in research. This included faculty supervised undergraduate research projects, all of which concluded with a final semester presentation for each term. My undergraduate project included research on skull morphology as it related to the environment of rodent species. For this travel to the National Museum of Natural Science in Washington D.C. was necessary to obtain specimens which were used in acquiring several physical measurements that were entered into a computer database for analysis and comparison. From the data gathered from the specimens as well as from the various environments of each individual animal a conclusion about the relativity of the skull morphology to the environment was developed based on generated data models and explained in a final presentation developed by myself to the department and University officials.
08/2003-08/2005 Albemarle, NCn Title: Front Desk/Night Auditor Hours/Week: 40+n Duties and Accomplishments: Worked as Night Auditor during the week while attending college and as a Front Desk attendant on weekends. Duties included customer service, processing daily reports, supervising other hotel staff in order to ensure customer satisfaction on a daily basis, making/modifying guest reservations, attending to any and all guest inquiries and concerns.
