Senior Storage Manager

I used TSO and JCL to do most of my work. I am an expert in both.

Managed over 50 terabytes of data on the mainframe OS/390 using various tools. Daily migration, archival and data compression are a few examples.

Tested, documented and implemented SRDF Time Finder. I was the main support person for SRDF. I resolved any issues and trained others on how to use the software. I met with Technical Support for SRDF. I used the knowledge transfer from Technical Support along with the book and started to work. First I created a test library to place all of my working samples with documentation and explanations. Than I started using each task in our environment and tested for positive results. When I was complete I answered any outstanding questions and modified the documentation to reflect any current changes. I also made a backup copy of all my work. I kept Disaster Recovery in mind when working with the new software.

Used ISMF to support DFSMS.

DFDSS was used to migrate data.

Supported Disaster Recovery at SUNGARD for a 24-hour test.

Learned and customized SAMS: VANTAGE real time online tool to recover over thirty 3390/9 DASD removing outdated information.

Trained junior person on the team on how to use various software products.

Documented any and all changes plus instructions.

Redesigned their system catalog structure from three mainframes to one mainframe.

New naming standards were created for the Aliases in each catalog. In the process reduced the total Catalogs from 44 to 22 for Providian Insurance in Kentucky.
