EXPERIENCE
CONSULTANT/CONTRACT SALES REP (1996-PRESENT) (HARLIN-REED ENTERPRISES) Purchased flat rolled steel for major South Florida producer of steel stud/track; arranged slitting, freight, supervised operations and sold finished goods. Provide contract sales representation of carbon steel flat rolled for metal distributors, importers, foreign mills selling to OEMs and other distribution channels. Among classes of trade to whom I have sold are included manufacturers of pallet racks, steel tanks, building products, HVAC equipment and stampers. Continuously opening new accounts in the US and Caribbean.
GENERAL MANAGER (1994-1996) (MINDIS METALS, ATLANTA) Started metal distribution operation for Atlanta based scrap company. Achieved 700 tons/mo sales of secondary plate within 3 months of beginning operations. Full P & L responsibility; negotiated capital acquisitions; trained work force and exceeded sales projections.
MANAGER (1993-1994) (CIRALSKY STEEL/TOLEDO PICKLING) Opened Atlanta sales office for Midwestern steel distributor and sold to OEMs throughout the Southeast. Built sales volume to low 7 figures and added 40+ new accounts within 6 months of startup.
OWNER (1987-1993) (WORLD METALS GROUP, HIALEAH, FL) Built from scratch and operated metal service center with annual sales in excess of $5MM. Supervised and trained 5 salesmen, 5 shop employees, negotiated purchases and contracts, developed sales, marketing and credit policies. Specialized in narrow-width slitting and sales to building products manufacturers.
DIRECTOR OF MARKETING (1982-1987) (TITAN INDUSTRIAL CORP,BALTIMORE, MD) Opened office and conducted sales for the Florida division of a major New York based importer with concentration on coated products. At peak, sold more than 25,000 tons annually to manufacturers of building-related products. Conducted purchasing negotiations with producers in Europe, South America and the U.S.
PRODUCT MANAGER/SALESMAN (1976-1982) (FULLERTON METALS, NORTHBROOK, IL) Territory salesman for large Chicago-area service center, later transferred to Miami branch. Leading salesman in each of 6 years both in volume and number of new accounts opened. Soled carbon flat-rolled products through out Florida and the Caribbean. Promoted to Non-Ferrous Product manager. Most notable achievement was opening up high volume stainless user, Burger King, Kitchen Fabricating Division.
