Safety Management

Workers Compensation

• Created and enhanced an organizational Early and Safe Return to Work Program with WSIB and the Safe Work Associations (IAPA and OSACH) in Ontario and other provinces. This program generated several rebates in excess of $1M, and returned injured workers to work in a productive, safe and medically prudent manner.

• Directed the claims management process from initial worker incident reports through to appeals with the provincial compensations systems.

Risk Mitigation and Operations Management

• Implemented a service agreement with strategic business partners to provide Occupational Health Service coverage for employees and to generate revenue of up to $120,000 annually.

• Implemented Loss Prevention Programs such as the Lost Time/No Lost Time Workplace Accident Financial Incentive Program. This led to increased accountability with facility managers which resulted in improved workplace safety.

• Championed the creation of a Risk Assessment Safety Team to minimize exposure to corporate liability. The team reviewed concerns and implemented proactive programs, policies and procedures.

Health Management

• Led the hospital’s efforts during the H1N1 influenza pandemic, which allowed for continuous hospital operation

• Redesigned the non-occupational illness reporting process from an attending physician statement to an application process. This initiated a shift away from an entitlement culture and resulted in reduced absenteeism.

• Provided guidance and expertise to a team of 13 Occupational Health and Safety professionals.

• Championed the hiring of a Workplace Wellness Coordinator to improve wellness, EAP utilization and job satisfaction.
