Environmental

• Ensured plant level Environmental programs, policies, procedures and systems were developed, implemented and sustained to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and corporate regulatory requirements.

• Implemented and managed a no-landfill recycling program.

• Prepared and submitted all required environmental permit applications/renewals and routine agency reports, e.g., Ohio EPA, CERCLA, SARA, RCRA. Prepared, reviewed, and submitted plant environmental permits and ensured terms and conditions were understood and complied with; ensured required documentation was maintained and required regulatory reports were submitted to the respective agencies, e.g. air discharge, storm water discharge, POTW, NPDES, FESOP, and Title V permits.

Responsible for identifying, monitoring, controlling, and documenting all hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams; scheduling of hazardous waste shipments, completion of manifests and development of waste minimization program.

• Represented facility, acted as a liaison with local, state, and federal agencies. Served as the plant emergency incident commander.

• Managed all plant waste disposal activity to ensure compliance with applicable regulations; including hazard and risk assessment and radiation safety. Developed and implemented both preventative and abatement strategies.

• Developed/maintained plant emergency response plans and ensured drills were performed to document plan effectiveness.

• Responsible for the coordination of emergencies concerning the release of hazardous materials, fire, explosion, natural disaster or any other emergency requiring response or coordination with outside agencies.

• Identified requirements and provided all Environmental training for facility, including salary and hourly personnel. Ensured required employee environmental training was completed on-time and documented.

• Managed MSDS system and new chemical procurement process review for suitability.

• Kept abreast of regulatory programs and communicated impacts to management. Evaluated proposed projects and proposed new chemicals and ensured plans are in-place and implemented to address EHS compliance issues. Supported and/or directed the plant’s ISO 14001/2000 EMS.

• Developed and implemented plant programs, policies and procedures to conform and mandates, strategies and schedules to elevate and sustain world class programs e.g., EHS Directives.

• Investigated environmental incidents/accidents to determine root causes and prepares and implemented corrective action plans.

Safety & Health

• Initiated and developed policies and procedures to ensure that safety and health measures were implemented and maintained.

• Interpreted risk management related information and assisted departments in applying that information in reducing liabilities.

• Reviewed and analyzed all non-reportable vehicle accidents, near accidents, first report of injuries and supervisor's accident investigation reports; determined corrective actions that will reduce high frequency accidents.

• Ensured operations were inspected semi-annually to identify and minimize safety/ health risk exposures; worked with department representatives to plan, develop and implement safety and loss prevention programs.

• Conducted worksite inspections and employee training to ensure proper work practices are being followed; advised department heads and employees regarding proper practices and participated in the implementation of programs.

• Coordinated with insurance representatives related to renewal of general building liability insurance policies; maintained insurance files, conferred with the liability insurance representatives to update the risk management program.

• Checked on the use of all types of personal protective equipment, evaluated their effectiveness and suggested improvements where needed. Involved in employee's physicals, safety incentive programs, drug testing programs, hearing conservation, defensive driving classes, annual driver license checks, and CPR/First Aid training.
