Profile
Completed my BS in Chemical Engineering in 1985 and have worked as a project engineer since 1991, predominantly with Merck & Co., Inc. Completed my MS in Engineering Management (with a concentration in Project Management) in 2006. My goal is to secure an Ohio-based CPI position.
Experience
Merck & Co.
Rahway, NJ
Facilities Engineer > Senior Engineer 05/98 – Present
Promoted from Facilities to Senior Engineer in May of 2008. In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, I was also asked to provide front end engineering support for Global Engineering Services' international projects.
As a Facilities Engineer at Merck's Rahway Site, I act as the project lead and client interface for numerous process fit-out, infrastructure, research lab and animal lab renovation projects ranging in price from 100K to 6MM. In this capacity, and with little supervision, I perform the scoping, estimating, funding requests, design (A&E firm) management, procurement, subcontracting, construction coordination, safety management, commissioning and close-outs for my assignments, including:
Completed the installation of the Factory 12 tank farm. This 6MM project provided pumps, piping, control valves and six 2,000 gallon ss tanks for storage and distribution of solvents into Factory 12.
Completed the installation of the Factory 6 Brine Distribution System. This 1MM project provided a new containment dike, 2 sets of circulation pumps and a baffled 3,000 gallon carbon steel storage tank.
Relocated 21 Basic Chemistry and Animal Research Scientists from Building 80W to 7 separate locations. On-time completion of this 2MM lab renovation project enabled the demolition of Building 80W in the 2008 tax year.
Completed the installation of Building 80N AHU-4 (2MM). This 44,000 CFM laboratory supply air handler replaced two existing units that had outlived their life expectancy and required frequent maintenance.
ISP Fine Chemicals, Inc.
Columbus, OH

Worked as Lead Engineer on vessel installations, process fit-outs and infrastructure projects in a toll processing environment. Projects ranged in value from 20K to 2MM. Completed the RE-10 Reactor Installation Project on budget and early. This 2MM effort increased the facilities processing capacity by 15%. Also worked closely with in-house staff performing business driven process retrofit projects.
International Flavors & Fragrances, Inc.
Union Beach, New Jersey
Project Engineer 11/93 – 11/95
Performed Project Engineering duties on projects ranging in value from 50K to 1 MM. Projects ranged from air handler replacements to process fit-outs to remediation work for a 50,000 gallon #2 fuel oil spill.
