Power business caters to Transmission and distribution segments serving various Utility and generating companies in UK, Middle East and other geographies.

• Leading, operating and managing the local Power Team at Bangalore catering to UK and Middle East Markets

Substation automation business, part of Power segment at ABB, provided protection and automation solutions encompassing the complete power system for Generation companies, Utilities, Industries and Distribution companies, across India, South East Asia and some parts of Middle East and African Markets.

Jan 2004 to May 2006– VATECH Bangalore (UK Division) – Head Engineering Projects

VATECH Bangalore division was formed as an off shore unit of VATECH UK Projects division to leverage skills and resource available in India for engineering of HV/MV/LV substation projects.

My responsibilities

• Lead and set up off shore engineering division.

• Technical project management of substation projects

• Resource management and planning

• Identifying potential vendors and developing them as partners.

Accomplishments

• Successfully managed and executed sizable substation projects (Engineering man hours ranged from 2000 for typical asset replacement project to 20000 for new green field built)

• Trained and developed three Vendors for drafting services.

August 2000 to Dec 2003 – VATECH – Hebburn U.K. – Principal Engineer - Projects

VATECH Bangalore division was formed as an off shore unit of VATECH UK Projects division to leverage skills and resource available in India for engineering of HV/MV/LV substation projects.

My responsibilities

• Engineering of substation projects

• Production of Design basis reports

• Production of Protection setting reports

• Coordination with Client/Consultant for various technical issues.

• Generating technical specifications for various plant equipment within Substation and Protection setting reports

• Technical evaluation of sub contractor /Vendor quotes.

• Site visit and co ordination with Site Personnel during Project execution and Substation build stage.

• Completed engineering of green field 400kV GIS substation project.

• Assisted Contract closure by completing Protection setting reports for 500Kv Plauk Daeng Substation at Thailand
