Street design and Public works

-Designed the Widening of San Jose Avenue at Nogales Street to accommodate the new traffic volume generated by the Nogales Street Grade Separation Project by ACE*, which modified some vicinity streets into cul-de-sacs and re-routed traffic through San Jose Avenue; the widening was from an existing 60 feet right of way to a new width of 75 feet, in a length of 540 feet; it incorporated new horizontal curves with longer radii that improved visibility, made a smoother ride and included a new left turn pocket for semitrailer queuing. The widening did not reduce any areas of the adjacent parking lots which lay out were rearranged to maintain the existing number of parking stalls; prepared Plans, Specifications and Estimate package for bidding purposes

-Designed the reconstruction and resurfacing of local streets: San Jose Avenue, Fairway Drive, Baldwin Park Boulevard for a total length of 7,250 feet; prepared PSE for bidding purposes.

-Developed the conceptual parking lot lay out and grading plan for the Sheriff station to park 328 cars.

-Designed the grading and drainage for a new parking area and the overflow parking lot for the Puente Hills Equestrian Center with a total area of 4 acres

-Designed grading to accommodate manufactured homes

-Established with utility agencies the re-alignment of their facilities to be routed through new easements and coordinated the alignments for the right of way acquisition for them, to clear the site for the Nogales Street Grade Separation Project.

Secured temporary Right of Entry permits from the CPUC and the UPRR to perform street reconstruction work within the railroad right of way at various street crossings.

-Performed Plan checking for permit issuance, for re-development of industrial projects and tilt up building construction: site work, grading and drainage; designs to comply with city and county standards,

Designed the drainage system for the widening of the intersection of Ramona Boulevard and Highway 79 in the City of San Jacinto

Water Supply Systems

Designed the temporary water supply system for the construction of the Pine Tree Wind Farm Project in the Mojave desert, rated pumps, sized appurtenance structures and obtained approval from the LADWP as the water purveyor; the system tapped water from the Los Angeles aqueduct in the Mojave desert, Kern County at Jawbone Canyon Road.

-Prepared report submittals to the NPDES for water quality control related to land development and construction activities

Highway Design

-Lead drainage engineer for the San Fernando BRT, a 14 miles bus way Design-Build

Project for the Los Angeles MTA; the project included 26 street intersections.

-In charge of drainage design for the entire fourteen miles of this project.

-Lead drainage engineer for the SR-125 Freeway, connecting the city of Chula Vista, CA

to the south border, an 8 miles Design-Build project that included eight interchanges and

a 1100 Meters span bridge

-In charge of the drainage design team; analyzed on site drainage patterns and sized the

underground conveying systems.

-Laid out conceptual detention ponds for flow routing and storm water quality

-Set up priorities for local agencies and state ordinances to assure submittal approval.

-Coordinated with agencies on storm water release flow rates.

-Sized culverts for off-site drainage.

Light Rail Design

-Responsible for the drainage design to the Los Angeles to Pasadena Gold Line, a 13.8

miles light rail design-build project, within jurisdictions of the cities of Los Angeles,

Pasadena; South Pasadena and CALTRANS.

-Established criteria and approach for the design team on this project.

-Prepared hydrology studies, hydraulic analysis and storm drain design.

-Designed culverts, pump stations for tunnel drainage systems in this project.

-Supervised other engineers and designers in the civil group.

-Dealt successfully with local agencies, CALTRANS, the cities of Los Angeles, Pasadena

and South Pasadena; met local agencies’ standards and assured submittal approvals.

-Demonstrated before agencies that negative effects on the existing drainage systems as a

result of the new project and the proposed improvements were minimal or non-existing.

-Delivered submittals in a timely basis

-Coordinated and conferred with other professionals and agencies to accommodate

appurtenance structures and to relocate existing utilities.

-Designed precise grading and drainage for platform stations and parking lots.
