(private, non-profit Magnet healthcare system encompassing Baptist Hospital of Miami, South Miami Hospital, Baptist Children’s Hospital, Homestead Hospital, Mariner’s Hospital, Baptist Outpatient Services, Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, Doctor’s Hospital and West Kendall Baptist Hospital, 13 urgent care centers, 19 outpatient/diagnostic centers, and 25 international e-health networks.

Corporate Director Information Technology (2003-Nov. 2011)

Report to Vice President of Information Technology. Oversee administration and management for all aspects of Baptist Health South Florida’s telemedicine and media services operations, which provides clinical telemedicine, distance education services, satellite transmissions, IPTV, television broadcasts and engineering.

Develop and implement comprehensive strategic plans and development strategies, short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures, estimates and budgets.

Oversaw the daily operations of the engineering, satellite and broadcast operation functions ensuring compliance with company, state and federal policies and regulations, including those of the Federal Communications Commission. Assure systems compliance with copyright laws and Internet guidelines.

Spearheaded a telemedicine and media services management program for 8 hospitals, 13 urgent care centers, 19 outpatient & diagnostic centers, and 25 international e-health networks.

Successfully designed and installed numerous audio-visual, telemedicine, and media systems upwards into millions of dollars in over 25 countries where Baptist had implemented the e-health program.

Built protégé model medical communications department in the United States. Grew departmental revenues from 0 to $15 million.

Teamed with Nursing, Baptist Hospital and South Miami Hospital administration to gain hospital recognition as a Magnet hospital.

Team member instrumental in bringing 18 interactive tele-surgeries in 4 days to the American Urological Association exhibition floor. This had never been done and was a telemedicine milestone.

Initiated several informative newsletters for employees, patients, community and supporters of the hospitals, as well as in-house publications for employees (weekly and quarterly) and marketing collateral.

Created in-house stock photography center to generate additional revenues for department from other departments and outsiders.

Designed and implemented the digital/telemedicine platform for the South Miami Heart Center at South Miami Hospital.

Designed and implemented the ambient design for various clinical departments within the Baptist Health South Florida system.

Provided continuous support for the Tumor Board cancer research meetings within the Baptist Health South Florida system.

Designed and coordinated the construction of a state-of-the-art telemedicine and media services center, including a 4 modern TV studios, 7 editing suites, an audio-visual library, 6 media/telemedicine control rooms, CCTV with over 1500 stations, 5 complete 150-300 seat auditoriums, 23 classrooms and 50 public rooms with leading-edge audio-visual technologies and interactive systems.
