PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
I have twenty five years experience working in the Logistics/Warehousing/Distribution/Inventory Management field.
Employee Supervision – I have supervised/managed as few as two order pickers and as many as six salaried supervisors who in turn were supervising 100+ warehousemen in four separate facilities over three shifts. Successes have included a 50% gain in employee retention over a 12 month period studied due to refinements in hiring practices. While employed as a Service Manager I increased labor dollars collected by 26% over a two year time span.
Warehouse/Inventory Management – Responsibilities have included managing multiple facilities and single facilities up to 250,000 sq. ft., department budgeting responsibility, shipping/receiving, cycle counting, OS&D, re-pack, housekeeping (including food distribution, FDA regulated housekeeping), order fulfillment, pick/pack, building security & order auditing. Accomplishments have been where I have been able, through thorough study of my department, to target precise figures in budgets concerning percentage of freight cost to sales dollars to assist marketing in pricing solutions. Experience with inventory replenishment planning, market research and lean strategizing have been other areas of experience and interest in past positions.
Freight Management – My career positions have ranged from a shipping clerk/shift leader where order picking assignment and completion of Bills of Lading were the major duties up to a Logistics Manager where full out carrier contract negotiations, all truckload, LTL, air & ocean routing, shipping, paperwork, international shipping, etc. were the daily duties. Demonstrated skills in keeping on time shipments to a 100% level where my department was concerned and significant reduction in shipping errors by developing means of order picking accuracy by working with production departments to refine production planning practices.
Carrier Negotiations – Duties have included negotiations of contracts with all modes of carriers (LTL, TL, Air, Ocean & Rail). I have had significant success in negotiating LTL & TL rates where quality carriers have given low TL pricing & LTL carriers have provided high discount percentages (75+%) and FAK class protection (shipping class 125 product at class 70) were obtained.
Computer – I have used Excel extensively for Budgeting and creating General Margin Pricing Reports and have taken a competency test within the last two years. With the accuracy worldwide being 73% my score was over 83% as tested. I have used most all Microsoft operating systems from Workgroups for Windows 3.11, 95, 98, 2000, XE & Vista. I consider myself very skilled at the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook) and have worked with numerous MRP systems such as Axapta, Baan, AS400, Visibility, and 4th Shift.
Sales – As a Service Manager and in my last position I was/am responsible for selling products to customers via e-mail, internet shopping cart, fax, phone or walk-in. I am articulate and make sure I understand the product I am representing in order to be a proficient closer on any sale.
