Miscellaneous accomplishments as Manager of IT
Personally initiated and developed Excel spreadsheet to track IT expenses for review by CFO. Provided monthly and annual expenses with variances. Prior to my arrival, IT expenses were not tracked.
Achieved $9,000 annual savings by negotiating new contract for hardware support with no degradation in service.
Delegated upgrade to server and desktop hardware which resulted in improved response time, network security and reduced number of servers.
Identified problem with broker commission statements process, developed the concept for improvement and contracted outside vendor to perform technical modifications to website which provided timelier information and more historical information.
Personally improved efficiency by reprogramming and automating monthly reinsurance process. Three-day process was reduced to less than one hour.
Manager of Health System 2004 – 2005
Responsible for all issues related to mainframe health system residing on IBM mainframe
Tasked with reviewing, recommending and executing corporate network support modifications. A consultant working out of Florida with access to the St. Louis systems was supporting the network support function. After reviewing his billing and consulting with vendors locally it was felt he was charging in excess of what was necessary. His annual billing was approximately $100,000 per year. Personally interviewed local vendors and selected vendor to perform the network support function which led to a 75 percent cost reduction and my promotion to IT Manager.
