OBJECTIVE To utilize experience in leading research and developmental teams to provide a broad array of technical support for current products and support the conception, development, and growth of new prod-ucts for the market.
SUMMATION I have experience in leading a small company successfully wherein sales, earnings, and product listings doubled. I have presented budgets for Board of Directors approval. I have designed, devel-oped, and scaled products up from the lab scale to the commercial production scale with budgeted time and expense profile. I have invented dental adhesive elements that match the market leader in performance and capability but are not covered in the dental patent literature. This provided a new and desired alternative to the aesthetic dental restorative market. I have developed and installed new manufacturing processes that led to a doubling of the sales volume due to the new enhanced product stability. I led the drive to acquire and implement ISO 9000 quality certification.
EXPERIENCE
President, Customized Chemical Consulting December, 2011 to present
• Provided advice to dental and medical material entrepreneurs concerning marketing strategies, formu-lation and desirable product properties.
Chief Technical Officer, Esstech - 2008 - 2011
• Budget responsibilities for R & D Department
• Trouble-shooting responsibilities for raw materials qualifications, product manufacture, QC, and QA
• Supervised Esstech, Inc. technology development and application team of one R & D Chemist, two QC Chemists, and two production chemists
• Designed and developed low-shrink urethane methacrylate (<2%; >97% cure) dental resin manufactur-ing process. Coordinated multi-site testing program. Presented results to international meeting. Ad-vised clients on effective application.
• Scaled multiple reactions from lab-scale (0.1 L) to commercial scale (1 MT)
• Invented new phosphate-based dental adhesive resin. Coordinated University testing program that proved material to be market leader equivalent and, critical for clients, uncovered by patent literature.
• Developed robust process for urethane manufacture with controlled low inhibiter content and minimal side reaction on 1 MT scale
• Developed amine-free methacrylate ester manufacture process that quadrupled sales due to enhanced stability
• Developed and validated all QC measurement systems for Esstech
President and Chief Operating Officer, Esstech - 2000 to 2008
• Company-wide Budget Responsibilities with annual presentations to Board of Directors
• Presentations to researchers and customers at annual IADR, AADR (Research Meetings) and biennial International Dental Show (Cologne, Germany)
• Gross sales up 240% to $4.8 million in 2008
• Net Earnings up 200% during tenure
• ISO 9000 Quality Assurance Status attained and maintained
• Esstech product catalogue doubled
• Developed specialized monomers for powder/liquid nail extension system (Retention plus)
• Produced successful, high-quality nail gel system for Colomer/Creative Nail Design (Brisa)
Vice President and Technical Director, Esstech - 1994 to 2000
• Small particle, narrow molecular range polymers polymerization process developed
• Encapsulation process for shielding reactive components until needing in the curing process
• Introduced statistical process analysis to QC department
• Developed five new monomers and ten new polymer products
