Borrower Services Specialist, Montana Guaranteed Student Loan Program, Helena, MT, April 2009 to January 2012:
• The Borrower Services unit is responsible for educating students and borrowers in the areas of financial literacy and debt management
• Working jointly with borrowers, lenders, loan servicing agencies, school officials and other agencies to resolve loan delinquencies and defaults
• Must demonstrate a clear understanding of federal regulations related to federal student loans as well as departmental policy and procedures, while maintaining a strict level of confidentiality
• Issue wage garnishments and authorize license suspension documents, and prepare claims for both bankruptcy referrals and disability claims for the Department of Education
• Requires proficiency in data entry, word processing, verbal and written communication, and collections-related software used by our unit
• Work independently and in support of the other specialists/collectors in my unit
• Implemented and learned a new software program (Monarch) to increase efficiency in tracking the call codes entered in our noting system by each collector in the unit

Fraternity Experience
Actively involved with Kappa Sigma for five years while attending MSU. Participated in community service events such as Bowling for Kid’s Sake, Spike for Tykes, and Habitat for Humanity. Held position of IT Support for the Fraternity network, and designed a website for our chapter (Delta-Lambda) in 2007.
Summary of Qualifications
• Communication skills. Completed several courses in communication and professional selling in college. Delivered informative and persuasive speeches to small and large audiences, both at the individual and group level.
• Computer experience. Completed three semesters of computer programming as a Computer Science major; and am familiar with TelNet programs on a user level. Have proficiency with programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, ImageNow 6, Adobe, FTP programs, PowerPoint, SPSS, and Access. Can also type approximately 85-95 words per minute.
