RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Associate Chemist at L’Oreal (Clark, NJ) December 2009 – Sept 2011(TA)

L’Oreal Retail and Professional Sun Care R & D Department (2010 – present)

• Formulated the Sun Care products such as W/O and O/W based lotions, creams, and oil sprays. Followed FDA guidelines to conduct SPF tests of SPF 30, 40, 50 and 60 by using Sun filters.

• Analyzed various physical properties of formulations, including pH, viscosity, and microscopic morphology; conducted thermal stability studies (4oC, 25oC, 37oC, 45oC, and F/T).

• Investigated properties of raw material (RM) used in formulations. Organized inventory on all incoming RMs for the research team.

L’Oreal Retail and Professional Hair Styling R & D Department (2009 – 2010)

• Prepared and developed hair styling formulations (Paste, Gel, Cream, Mousse and Spray) and performed necessary analytical tests. Analyzed and controlled samples for stability and compatibility studies.

• Organized inventory on all incoming RMs for the research team. Responsible for troubleshooting new RMs in formulations.

• Followed GLP guidelines. Maintained accurate records in laboratory notebook in accordance to L’Oreal protocol.

Research Scientist at Colgate-Palmolive (Piscataway, NJ) September 2009 – December 2009 (TA)

Colgate-Palmolive Technology Center

• Developed new techniques to asset a novel whitening technology.

• Developed various new lab protocols, including aseptic handling of biological substrates like teeth, clear distinction of the enamel and dentine surface, sizing of the teeth, sterilization, and assembly of the model tooth surface into different forms of required in the study.

• Identified and defined new delivery vehicles for new actives; examined the Interaction of various systems on actives. Analyzed actives’ efficacy; studied effects of humectants, surfactants and polymers on actives.

Co-Op at Colgate-Palmolive (Piscataway, NJ) January 2009 – May 2009

Colgate-Palmolive Technology Center, Home Care- Early Research Group

• Prepared laboratory scale batches of prototype Dish Liquid Formulations

• Conducted formula yield stress and flow rheology evaluations utilizing controlled stress rheometer

• Monitored stability of formula prototypes

Effect of Shear on electrostatics and powder flow properties-Role of excipient, lubricant and ionic addictives

Project #1

• Measured tap and bulk density of the powder.

• Analyzed results of converted images from camcorder using software.

• Evaluated the flow characteristics of the powder in terms of cohesion by GDR.

• Formulated tablets with different forces and examine their standard deviation and hardness.

Project #2

• Tested the effects of shear in charge density measurements, electric conductivity and flow properties of powder; compared them with non-sheared powders for a correlation.

• Differentiated between Sheared and Unsheared powders.

• Examined powder Impedance, Charge density, and flow properties and compared their graphs theoretically and analytically.
