WORK EXPERIENCE

Men’s residential advisor
Alternative Directions is a probation residential service. We offer an alternative direction to non-violent felony offenders who are willing to make changes in their lives. We provide a productive 24 hour community based sanction that promotes restorative justice and public safety. We serve the criminal justice system by providing a productive punishment for those who are not a threat to the community. We restore the community by requiring offenders to make restitution for their crimes, fulfill the court requirements, and to become productive members of society.
3-2003/present HMS Host International Kentwood, MI
Bartender/server
Serving the guests in a quick and efficient manner with a smile. The bar is in the airport, therefore the managers have other locations that they need to tend to, so most of the time that I am there I am unsupervised and an independent worker. Being unsupervised does not interfere with me doing an exceptional job. It is an extremely fast paced environment so there is no room for error.

Server
Serving the guests food and drinks throughout the night. I closed down the restaurant at least once a week, which meant that there were extra responsibilities that I had to complete, like checking the other employees work.

Children’s Law Center

I would go through guardianship files and write summaries about those cases. Sending out questionnaires and making follow up phone calls was how I would keep in contact with those cases.

Supervised the resident’s of the correctional center. Performed duties as if I was a corrections officer. Room checks, pat downs, signing in and out for counseling services and maintaining security and safety.
Domestic Assault Response Team
Fall 2006
We responded to domestic assault calls from the Grand Rapids Police Department. Upon responding we offered help to the victims such as available counseling programs and places that could help provide them with the necessities while they prepare for a life with out their spouse. We also checked back up on the victims to prepare them for court or to make sure that they were still doing alright.
