Dear Prospective Employer,
Please allow me to introduce myself and my skill set to you. I am seeking either contract or full-time employment.
I am a fourteen-year US Navy veteran with service in the theater of operations during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm during the first Gulf War in 1990 & 1991. I left active duty in the Navy in 1988 and entered the construction trades as an electrician’s helper while also maintaining my affiliation with the Naval Reserve. I left the service completely in July 1992.
I entered into the electrical/general contracting business for myself in July of 1996. During my three-year enterprise, I completed six significant projects of my own and subcontracted my crew and my personal services to Tri-M Electrical Construction Corporation of Kennett Square, PA. The purpose of that agreement was to provide construction services and personnel for projects at the facilities of W. L. Gore Companies in Newark, DE. When the contracts were completed, I chose to enter the private sector rather than restart my business enterprise.
My almost five-year service with Pepco Energy Services was both rewarding and enjoyable. With that being said, the reason for my departure, strictly for personal reasons, had to do with the nature of the area and the increasing security concerns after the attacks of September 11th, 2001.
From 2003 until 2010, my brother and I owned and operated our own small construction company concentrating primarily on commercial/institutional/military/residential window and storefront design and installation applications. Due to the poor economic conditions since the autumn of 2008, we were no longer able to continue. While the first five years were profitable, both of us have exhausted whatever retirement portfolios we may have had in trying to survive this downturn. Therefore, it is my desire to return to the private sector while I still have time to rebuild my retirement.
My wife and I have an empty nest, which allows me the ability to travel / relocate as necessary in the performance of my work.
My skill set is varied, and I have a great deal of practical hands on experience. I also pride myself in my ability to adapt to new and evolving situations and my ability to learn new skills in the process. I am not afraid to dive in to a project headfirst and learn the ropes. I have taken computer related courses throughout the years, and am also self-taught. I am very computer competent. The evaluations that I have received from my superiors in all of my employments, including the Navy, have always been well above average to excellent.
In closing, I would be happy to discuss in further detail the particular duties and responsibilities associated with any or all of the positions outlined on my resume. If you should find that my qualifications meet or exceed those of any position that you may now have, or that my become available soon, please contact me for an interview.
Salary requirements are negotiable.
Thank you,
Jeffery K. Jones
