PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Manage on time and cost effective OEM Program launches for several hundred different stamping and blanking products for several different programs including the following few:

Tools for panels such as Body Sides (Outers and Inners), Doors (Outers and Inners), Hoods (Outers and Inners), Lift Gates (Outers and Inners), Fenders, Wheel Houses, Header Panels, Roofs, Control Arms, Axels, Automotive Powertrain Converters, Clutch Plates, Pressure Plates, Radiator Enclosures, Wheels for – platforms such as the X Car, CT-20 etc in early 1980s and others through the present generation WK, RT, DS, P-415, P-473, D219-258, D 471-472, GM H, GMX 966, GMX 901, GMX 521 etc. have been a successfully launched along with Appliance Compressor Systems, Pedestal and Elevation Bases, and Water Heater systems.

ADVANCED ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING MANAGEMENT - Design and Implement Innovative Solutions, Material Savings, Cost Reductions and Improved Yield for several panels through various Engineering and Draw Shell studies:

* Design and implement cost saving tooling solutions for HSLA Steel products for early generation front wheel

drive automobiles.

* I have created and implemented unique solutions for panel extraction from tools.

* Designed, and implemented added features to tools for enhanced productivity.

* I implemented a mistake proof, tool orientation system as related to the tool’s setup in the presses so as to result

in a guaranteed correct setup, and thus creating additional manufacturing uptime at Kasle Steel.

* Re-design and build all of the seven (7) existing program tools for an OEM program thus saving the OEM

more than $ 500,000 per year in their costs, and also saving Kasle Steel more than $ 200,000 per year in their

manufacturing costs.

* Implemented cost saving tool design, and building concepts for Laser Welded Blank applications for the A and

the H car automobiles.

* Implement and conduct several engineering change studies on both major and minor steel panels for

manufacturing cost reductions and materials cost savings.

* I implemented $ 500,000 in annual material savings for the OEM on a heavy duty Truck (P-473) door inner panel

in 2008, with additional manufacturing cost savings of $ 200,000 in our internal operational costs.

* Continue studies to implement scalloping of panels for material savings by reducing the pitch of the panels for

OEM products launching soon.

* Implemented a common die concept by re-designing three (3) panels for an upcoming OEM program and this

helped the OEM save $ 300,000 in pre-launch tool costs.

* Created multiple manufacturing options for a given product for researching the best and cost effective processes.

* Conduct and implement studies on coating of tool steels for enhancing the life of the tool steels to up to 3 times

the normal expected life.

Design and Build Material Handling systems for feeding panels into & from Presses and Dies:

* Implemented design and build of material handling systems with an up front $ 6,000,000 in savings in a OEM

stamping plant startup cost, and thus an award to Kasle Steel to build a new manufacturing facility to support this

OEM for their Kentucky operations.

* Manage the design and build of cost saving material handling systems for several product/program launches.

* Implement cost effective alternatives to pin pallet concept.

Plant Project Management, Capital Budgeting & Spending:

* Study and implement efficient plant layout plans in building of new plants – including one in Jeffersonville Indiana,

a facility that supports OEM operations in Kentucky and Tennessee.

* Specify new Press lines and equipment for new plant operations using rebuilt existing press lines with savings of

more than $ 2,000,000.

* Implement JIT and other logistical studies to efficiently supply products to stamping plants.

Cost Management:

* As a program manager, several times purchased stamping tooling worth several million dollars for various

programs at a substantial savings to our customers by conducting detailed RFQs.

* Conduct manufacturing and product cost studies for several hundred projects.

Lean Manufacturing:

* Implemented SMED – KAIZEN and other unique manufacturing and tool set-up solutions to increase the press

times by up to 50%.

* Create and implement unique cost saving solutions in manufacturing facilities.

Product Development, Customer service, Marketing and Sales:

* Created unique solutions in the use and manufacture of steel products for Flint Metal Fabricating an OEM

stamping facility and thus help Kasle Steel become its largest steel supplier with sales in excess of $ 50 M/yr.

* Create marketing awareness and pre-launch partnerships within the various OEM groups.

* Provide regular customer service liaison for engineering and sales activities.

* Conduct DOE studies at customer manufacturing establishments for cost savings to the customers.

* Develop steel products and unique solutions during the OEM pre-launch cycles.

Quality Management:

* Fully implemented a self-developed and self directed Quality Control system in the early 1980s.

* Assisted in the implementation of the QS system in the mid 1990s and the ISO in early 2000.

* Completed several FMEA and PPAP studies.

* Design Build and Manufacture with the cost of the quality in full perspective and mind.

* Fully versed with supply chain logistics for Steel and Tools.

Kasle Steel Corporation Jan 1977 – Nov 2008 (Bought by Steel Technologies Jul 2006 – Nov 2008), and as the Director of Product Development and Tooling since March 2005.
