SYNOPSIS
Don R Wijeratne is a senior structural engineer at the ProNet Group, Inc and has responsibilities in project management. Orange Beach Club House & Marina – Orange Beach, AL
Designed & detailed 2-story 20,000 square foot steel structure, with composite floors, metal deck supported on joist and cast-in-place shear walls. The building was supported on timber piling.
Fellowship Hall at Foley First Baptist Church – Foley, AL
Designed and detailed a 40,000 square foot 2-story load bearing masonry structure, with non-composite floor system supported on steel joists, and metal roof deck supported on joists. Reinforced CMU walls were utilized to resist wind, while the foundation was continuous footings.
First National Bank of Baldwin County – Foley, AL
Designed and detailed a 2-story 12,000 square foot steel structure, with composite floors, metal deck supported on joists. Steel brace frames, and moment frames were used for wind resisting systems. The structure was supported on Spread footings.
Support Services Building- Gulf Port, MS.
Designed & detailed 2-story 38,000 square foot office building with parking garage at ground level. This was a steel structure, with composite floors, metal roof deck supported on joist, and reinforced masonry shear walls all supported on spread footings.
Peters Park – Mobile, AL
Designed & detailed a 15,000 square foot community center with metal roof deck supported on joists. Reinforced masonry was used to support gravity and lateral loads, and the structure was supported on spread footings. .
Beach Club Market Place – Fort Morgan, AL
Designed & detailed 2-story 17,000 square foot steel structure, with composite floors, metal deck supported on joist and Steel brace framed all supported on spread footings.
Rectory & Office for Our Lady of the Gulf – Bay St. Louis, AL
Design and detailed a 6000 square foot office and receiving building, built with ICF (insulted concrete form) walls supporting a Hambro roof system.
Smith Hall at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community Collage – Perkinston, MS
Designed a 15,000 square foot single story building holding classrooms, offices, and art studios with metal deck supported on steel joists; steel braces were used for lateral support, while the structure was supported on spread footings.
Viragh II Dormitory-Spring Hill College– Mobile, AL
Designed & detailing 3-story 55,000 square foot dormitory with cast-in-place floor slabs, columns, and shear walls supported on spread footings.
Hankins Middle School – Theodore, AL
Designed & detailed a 30,000 square foot classrooms building with metal roof deck supported on joists. Reinforced masonry used to support gravity and lateral loads, and the structure was supported on spread footings.
Denton Middle School – Mobile, AL

Addition to Daphne Elementary School - Daphne, AL
Designed & detailed a 20,000 square foot classroom addition with metal roof deck supported on joists. Reinforced masonry was used to support gravity and lateral loads, and the structure was supported on spread footings.
McGill-Toolen Science Building - Mobile, AL
Designed & detailed a 26,000 square foot science building with composite floors, and metal deck supported on metal joists. Reinforced masonry used to support gravity and lateral loads, and the structure was supported on augur cast piling.
Riverview Hotel Pinnacle - Mobile, AL
Analyzed an existing 28-story (274 foot) structure to install a new 100-foot steel pinnacle structure. Scope included reinforcing existing columns using FRP (Fiber Reinforce Polymers).
AHEPA (Assisted Living Housing) -Multiple projects
Design and detailed of 45,000 square foot, 3-story wood structure with apartments and community rooms consisting of wood floors supported on open web wood trusses and laterally supported with CMU shear wall shafts, and plywood shear walls.
Gulf Coast Oral & facial Surgery – Biloxi, MS
Designed & detailed 9000 square foot medical office building, built with wood construction.
Beach Club Houses – Fort Morgan, MS
Designed & detailed one and two story houses to develop a water front planned community.

Additions to Fine Arts Building at Spring Hill College - Mobile AL
Designed a classroom, studios, and office addition to a existing load bearing brick building (built in 1930). The new structure was of steel frame with wood flooring and roof, and CMU shaft to for lateral support. It also involved reinforcing new building for additional loads and modifications.
Dauphin Island Sea Lab – Richard Shelby Center – Dauphin Island, AL
Designed 12,000 square foot laboratory facility built with reinforced masonry walls and metal deck bearing on steel beams, all bearing on spread footings. Material choices were based on LEEDS criteria.
