AS the first member of LGE’s Procurement Leadership/Early Identification Program, I was exposed to a wide range of procurement and sourcing activities and was assigned with great responsibilities.

Instrumental in developing China sourcing strategies (25% of total LGE spend). Implemented commodity councils that led to $17M immediate saving. Developed new suppliers through benchmarking projects.

Developed international sourcing strategies (55% of total LGE spend) that cover direct material, technology development/acquisition and capital equipment.

Team efforts were widely recognized by industrial and business orgs including Economist, Bloomberg, ISM etc.

Redesigned international procurement process: acted as focal point and collaborated with internal customers and suppliers to identify improvement opportunities through path-finding, spend analysis, market, BOM analysis and R&D to increase speed to market and foster bottom-line profit improvement of 17% during the first year and 11% during the second year for annual procurement amt. of $1B+.

Procurement operations: conducted market analysis, risk evaluation and planning, issued RFI and RFQ, identified and developed new suppliers, negotiated contracts, executed qualification/testing, inventory control, and managed suppliers on quality, delivery, continuous technology and cost improvement.

Implemented sourcing strategies including second-tier supplier involvement, new supplier development, and leverage across regions/countries/functions.

Hosted LG Electronics 2010 Global Supplier’s Day, attended by all key global suppliers and senior executives (743 executives across the globe). Executed other procurement events such as sourcing fairs.

U-Haul International, Phoenix, AZ

• Deployed lean process in planning that reduced lead time and resolved material availability for $285M annual spend.

• Sourced and procured 5% of company’s total production goods and 20% of total maintenance, repair and operating goods. Worked with Oracle DB on a daily basis.

• Negotiated two long-term agreements with key vendors, generating 26% cost reduction.
