Utilities Superintendent.

• Adherence and support of the company’s safety culture.

• Responsible for supporting the goals of the business unit in safety, environmental stewardship, maintenance, and production.

• Work with maintenance supervisors and planners to set priorities on mechanical work and planed outages. This includes discretionary decisions about parts, materials, and personnel in regards to spending company funds.

• Supervise the operation of the mill utilities area which includes incoming water, boiler feed water, sanitary sewer treatment plant, industrial effluent treatment plant, Cryogenic plant, mill air and steam systems.

• Assist the pulp mill manager in the review, justification and validation of capital project work.

• Participate in group efforts that include other departments for the betterment of the company.

• Assist in the hiring process of hourly and salary employees.

Boiler Superintendant.

• Overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the power boiler area.

• Responsible for budgeting, maintenance, cost control, and personnel issues. Equipment includes four power boilers, fuel handling systems, and three turbine generators.

• Plan annual budgets and shutdown schedules with the mechanical department for preventative maintenance and jurisdictional inspections.

• Communicate closely with other pulp mill business unit and area supervisors to balance workloads.

Pulp Mill Shift Supervisor.

• Responsible for the safety and productivity of a 35 member crew, including training completion, and adherence to policies and procedures.

• Coordinate and supervise production activities in a fully integrated pulp mill, which include a wood screening and storage facility, 2 Kamyr digesters, NSSC, M&D cooker, 4 Power boilers, 3 recovery boilers,3 kilns, and utilities.

• Place priorities on mechanical work, plan short term equipment outages, and oversee the completion of work.

• Continually asses the performance, productivity, skill and weaknesses of the crews. Recommend and initiate solutions for continuous improvement.

• Direct supervision of bargaining unit employees in the pulp mill. This includes, initiating corrective action and commendations.

• Understand and follow the bargaining agreement and the seniority work rules.

• Support department supervisors by developing and presenting in department meetings.

Paper Mill Hourly Employee

• Operated paper machines and equipment in a team environment to produce liner, Corrugated Medium, and high performance craft paper.

• Worked as a 5th hand, 4th hand, and winder operator, until my promotion to pulp mill supervisor in 2005.
