Professional Experience

I have over twenty-five years’ experience working in the field of emergency medical, preparedness and fire services. My emergency preparedness work includes NRF, NIMS, ESF,COOP, IC, safety, ALARA, fire watch, first aid, dosimetry, nuclear emergency preparedness drills, exercise design, communications, writing standard operating procedures and guidelines and incident command, I worked in emergency operating centers for emergency preparedness in two counties during five hurricanes. I am a member of the New Hanover County Emergency Management CERT . I taught students at two local community colleges as an instructor-coordinator for emergency preparedness, continuing education and medical courses. At the colleges, I wrote programs and tested students with a high percentage pass rate. I have experience as a Paramedic Fire Fighter coordinator- supervisor in writing standard emergency operating guidelines and procedures for natural and man made disasters drills. (EOC) worker in incident command, triage, communications, transportation, dispatching, mitigation, hazardous analysis, recovery, response, planning, public relations, (PAWS) public alert warning systems, and shelter operations. I had top secret security clearance while working at Camp Lejeune as a Paramedic. Experienced working in emergency preparedness disaster drills with state, local, county and federal officials’. I have course certificates in the nuclear field through FEMA and Department of Homeland Security. I have two degrees, Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Management and Organizational Development and Applied Science Degree in Emergency Medical Science. Familiar with levels of readiness, maintenance, dispatching and preparedness for nuclear plant drills.

I am one of the founding members of Southport Rescue Squad. We worked closely with mock drills and evacuations programs at Brunswick Nuclear Plant. In the 1980s worked nuclear as safety officer, first aid, ALARA program and fire watch. During these years participated in mock drills, triage, evacuations, dispatching, maintenance, public relations, public alert warning systems and outages with emergency preparedness services.
