ACCOMPLISHMENTS IRM/Programs Plus: recognized that there was not a program to bring a new agent on line, passing them to underwriting, and bringing in new business. I proposed that within three weeks the underwriter and the production rep should visit, introduce the underwriter, and go over product needs. As a result of my suggestion a five-point action plan was developed. 1. Upon signing up a new agent the production dept sends an email to the underwriter.
2. The underwriter sends an introduction letter
3. The underwriter and production rep schedules a visit with three weeks to meet agency personnel.
4. In the visit the key agency staff was introduced to what we needed.
5. Timely follow-ups made to see if submissions were flowing in.
IRM/Programs Plus: At the end of 2006 market softened dramatically resulting in significant pricing pressure. At the same time Programs Plus made a decision that the book of frame apartments and motels were under insured at an average $52 a square foot and a decision was made to increase the ITV standard to $65. At a time when the market pricing 30% and the ITV standards increased from $53 to $65 I was able to renew IRM/Program Plus: In a production meeting we were going over how, as an 92% of my renewal book.
IRM/Programs Plus: Underwriting department we could bring in more business. I brought up the procedure that I was using to check last year's production records and review our failed quotes, both new and renewal and approached the agent to see if we could have a chance to quote them again. That was recognized as a good idea and was adopted as a department procedure.
Great American: When I went to work for Great American I had several good relationships with agents in the East Texas area. By the time I had been there 18 months I had appointed five agents in East Texas, Bosworth, Brownrigg, Threlkeld, Gans and Smith, and Offenhauser. The following two years they added $1,000,000 to our book of business.
CNA Insurance: in addition to handling a full territory of commercial risks was designated as the Dallas Branch's Referral Underwriter for Inland Marine Business and attained the second highest underwriting title, Underwriting Specialist.
