Academic Projects
Electric Taxi System Cockpit Control Panel (Senior Capstone Project)
• Sponsored by Honeywell Aerospace: Worked in a team to design and build a cockpit control panel to be used on the Airbus A320
• Built a prototype box, designed a PCB board and soldered components, ordered parts from outside sources
• Tested successfully at Honeywell in Toronto, Canada
Can Crusher (PLC Application)
• Successfully programmed a pneumatic can crusher to crush a soda can within inch
• Wired the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) to control the pneumatic press and sensors
• RSLogix 500 was used to program the Programmable Logic Controller using Ladder Logic programming
CNC Projects
• Programmed CNC Mill and Lathe to make business card holder and other parts
• Generated hand-written G&M codes for the first operation of business card holder.
• SurfCAM was used to generate tool paths and posted code for the second operation of the business card holder
Vice and Screw Jack
• Used mills, lathes, and grinders to make a vice and a leveling screw jack. Metrology tools were used to verify that the dimensions of the parts were in specification with the blueprint drawing.
Design of Manual Onion Dispenser for Hotdogs
• Collaborated with three other team members to design a manual onion dispenser using Solid Edge CAD program.
• Used drafting principles such as geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T)
• Calculated force, torque, volume, and other variables.
• Materials had to be selected for the onion dispenser.
• Group put together a well written report summarizing everything that was done from start to finish.
Drawing Packet
• Created a drawing packet for a project for my CAD & Solid Modeling class using Solid Edge.
• The drawing packet contained the 3D model, exploded and cutaway views, and 2D draft file with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance callouts.
Skills Acquired
• Programming: BasicX, LabVIEW, LogixPro, RSLogix 500
• Software: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, NX Nastran 7.5, Solid Edge (CADD), AutoCAD, Google SketchUp, SurfCAM
• Machines: Mills, Lathes, Grinders, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
• Metrology Tools: Optical Comparator, Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, Sine Blocks, Borescope
• Languages: Fluent in English, Romanian, and Spanish (written and verbal)
