WORK EXPERIENCE:
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT:
Employed .8 FTE as Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at Providence Newberg Medical Center (PNMC). Responsible for all Preparedness activities, including: exercise planning, activation, and after-action write-ups; keeping Emergency Operations Plan updated and current; and chair the hospital’s Emergency Management Committee. In addition, I was chair of the Environment of Care Committee (EOC); presented EOC at new-member orientations; represented PNMC at local and regional preparedness meetings; represented PNMC on the HPP Region 2 emergency preparedness board.
Employed part-time as City of Newberg Emergency Manager. Primary duties included training City staff in NIMS, teaching CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) classes, presenting tabletop exercises for City staff to understand NIMS, and working throughout the community developing personal preparedness awareness.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
Performed as an Independent Contractor to City of Newberg to evaluate and rewrite City’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), Resources Guide, and the Multiple Injury Plan document. Evaluated present documents, met with key City representatives for direction about change, drafted new EOP for City. Prepared electronic copies of the new EOP to share with other agencies within Yamhill County.
Currently produce 2 private-entity newsletters (1 monthly and 1 every-other-month) and a weekly powerpoint presentation. Responsible for preparing powerpoint and written materials for teaching emergency management classes to fire department personnel.
GOVERNMENT RELATIONS:
Managed 2 government entities, as City Administrator (City of Durham), and Rural Fire Board Clerk (St. Paul Rural Fire Protection District). Responsibilities included emergency management, governmental relations, contract management, personnel management, financial management.
Served for 18 years in the elective office of City Councilor in the City of Newberg; served eight of those years as Council President (vice mayor).
