-Assisted mainly in the Reproduction Department. Restrained horses and observed palpations/ultrasounds. Set-up, assisted and/or restrained for procedures such as: artificial insemination, uterine lavage, embryo flushes. Performed IV, IM, SQ injections, daily treatments( i.e. oral medications, TPR’s). Assisted/ Observed dystocias. Assisted in foal care and restraint. Performed patient admits/discharges along with client communication.
• Gained more hands –on experience and knowledge with equine veterinary medicine.
CVT Student extern May-Aug 2010
Chessie Lane Animal Hospital, Ottawa, IL
-Gained vet tech skills mainly with small animals here. Helped with in-patient care, assisted in surgery, client communication, performed blood draws, administered fluids/drugs, performed radiographs on patients, etc. Gained experience with urinalysis, and basic blood-work ups. Also rode along with the DVM on a few occasions for large animal calls.

-Assisted in 2010 fall night classes of first year vet tech large animal labs. Also worked at the school in the Vet Tech Department. Followed tasks assigned by facility manager. Tasks were to clean/organize treatment, kitchen, and kennels, and restock supplies. Also restrained or assisted with animal care if needed for teachers or student owners.
