Atlanta Public Schools Feb 2012-May 2012

HVAC Service Technician – While with APS duties include: preparing work orders, and order parts for over 80 Atlanta public schools. Troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace low pressure steam boilers, heat exchangers, heat pumps, rooftop and split system units, cooling towers, chillers, air handlers, compressors, motors, pumps, and any and all PMs.

Bahnson Mechanical Jan 2011-July 2011 (laid-off)

HVAC Service Technician – As a service tech with Bahnson, served as sole technician for several contracts in the Atlanta metro area including five senior living facilities, several Rooms To Go stores, and any other dispatched jobs on a daily basis. Mobile Owner/Operator – Troubleshoot and replace 5-20 ton compressor; troubleshoot and replace package and split systems and components including: contactors, fans, motors, relays, pumps, valves, coils, and T-stats (electric and pneumatic). HVAC Instructor – As a trained and certified NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) HVAC instructor my duties include the following: teach an overall view of the HVAC trade. Introduce and demonstrate various types of hand and portable power tools used by HVAC mechanics; explain and demonstrate how to prepare and join copper, plastic, and iron piping; explain and demonstrate proper soldering and brazing techniques; teach the fundamentals of basic electricity, basic electrical components; AC/DC circuitry, and electrical safety; extensive instruction in the basic principles of heat transfer and design of thermoses. Other information taught includes air distribution systems, vents, flues, basic electronics, electric heat controls, circuit troubleshooting, compressors, heat pumps, evacuation, recovery and charging techniques, and basic trade mathematics for calculations. In addition to instruction of the HVAC trade, I also worked as lab instructor to allow students to practice newly acquired skills under real conditions.

Mobile HVAC Service Technician – Service Technician for the metropolitan Atlanta area and surrounding states. Inspect and repair commercial air conditioning and heating units for Simon-owed malls and other contracted properties. Duties include installing rooftop units; replacing parts such as compressors, coils, motors, and electrical and programmable controls; and reclaiming and charging units with several types of refrigerants. Additional responsibilities include ordering parts, inventory, surveying, and interfacing with property management teams. Note: Company started a division in the Metropolitan Atlanta area; however, not enough work was available to sustain personnel. Consequently, layoffs occurred.
