Senior Design Project: Design and build a robotic arm to be mounted on the bow of a boat. The arm manipulates two types of sensors (Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter and Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) used for conducting current profiling in a canal. The arm exhibits 3-axis motion including up and down motion, motion in and away from the boat, as well as rotation of one sensor about the other. Fabrication of this device was funded by South Florida Water Management, and the device is currently being implemented by their West Palm Beach, FL office.
