I am an ABO certified optician looking for a new and challenging opportunity in an ophthalmologist practice to advance my career using my substantial optician skills and build upon my management experience.
Qualifications /Relevant Experience
I have more than six years’ experience as a dispensing optician.
I am a skilled manager adept at conflict resolution while meeting production goals.
Analyze and interpret customers' written optical prescription (from the examining doctor) to determine the lens specifications required. Measure customers’ facial features.
Assist customers in selecting the style and color of eyeglass frames and lenses by advising them of the size and shape best suited to both their facial features and to their optical prescription.
Prepare a work order that gives optical laboratories the information needed to fabricate lenses and to mount lenses in frames.
Verify the exactness of finished lenses by checking the power and surface quality with special optical instruments.
Adjust finished eyeglasses to fit the customer by heating and shaping plastic frames, or by bending metal frames using pliers.
Instruct customers in the use and care of eyeglasses.
Perform follow-up services, such as fixing broken frames, replacing temple screws, and adjusting and refitting glasses.
Running and operating visual fields, HRT’s, pachymetry equipment. I regularly use the fundus camera to obtain images of optic disk and macula photos. I regularly use using the non-contact tonometer and auto-refractor.
Pulling appropriate lenses and entering jobs into computers, blocking jobs and some edge work. Hand edge jobs that need extra work.
Experience using vision web, VSP, and multiple other insurance plans to start and bill out jobs.
Low vision trained to help assist doctor in choosing low vision aids and determining what devices would be appropriate for patient’s needs.
