Job Title:Production/Maintenance supervisor - ONGA

I. ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

II.GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB

To ensure that planned production targets are achieved at the highest product quality, at least cost within prescribed safe working conditions without adverse effects on the environment. By;

1.Maintaining discipline and conformance to process and product specification on all the processing and packing operations in the ONGA Department , including such non-production areas as the, amenities, warehouse.

2.Ensuring continuous improvement in efficiencies, quality, safety, plant reliability and reduction in costs and waste, and to analyse material variances arising from the operations and reducing adverse variances to benchmark levels.

3.Taking ownership and responsibility of Plant and Equipment, all other accessories, specific actions, and other activities apply to principles, tools, and techniques to achieve the key department objectives / targets.

III.MAIN DUTIES

1.PRODUCTION

a.Responsible for implementing the Production Plan and daily schedule agreed by the Production/Maintenance Coordinator with the Planner for the week.

b.On a daily basis, discuss with the team (Operators/Packers) progress on production and the day to day programme. Issues affecting production should be tackled as soon as possible.

Assign reasons for plant down times and shortfalls if targets are not

achieved.

c.Liaise with Operators to catalogue all maintenance requests. These should be discussed with the Production/Maintenance Coordinator for request to be forward to the Plant Operations Manager as soon as possible.

d.Write Daily/shift reports.

2.MATERIAL MANAGEMENT

a.Responsible for the management of all chemicals and packaging materials used in the ONGA Department.

b.Ensure Material requisition cover up to 2/4 shift from stores.

c.Ensure that materials received from stores are accompanied with the traceability forms and records are kept at the various sections.

d.Ensure that the right specification for every process is used. Where there are deviations, the anomaly should be corrected and the Production/Maintenance Coordinator attention should be drawn to it.

e.Ensure that weighing scales and other measuring devices are functioning well and calibrated on time.

f.Analyse/investigate the weekly material variance report from the operations and after discussing with the Production/Maintenance Coordinator, institute measures to reduce adverse variances to benchmark levels.

3.PROCESS MANAGEMENT

a.Ensure that good manufacturing practices (GMP) is adhered to.

b.Audit production log sheets.

c.Ensure process monitoring devices (Temperature and Humidity Instrument/probes, gauges etc) are functioning well and well calibrated.

d.Address issues raised in process audit reports (from the Quality Assurance Department).

4.QUALITY MANAGEMENT

a.Ensure that samples are sent to laboratory regularly for analysis. This is to ensure that products meet specification and take corrective actions where necessary

b.Ensure other quality documentation are duly filled on time i.e. traceability (Raw and primary packaging) and weight records.

c.Ensure strict conformance to HACCP and Hygiene procedures. Ensure the accompanying documents are filled

5.SAFETY HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT

a.Ensure that people work in a safe and health environments

b.Ensure that each member of the ONGA Department is in the right protective equipment (PPE). Particular attention should be paid to areas that require special PPE e.g. Nose mask for the Mixing and sieving section.

c.Ensure that Hygienic standards and dress codes are adhered to by all that enter the ONGA Department (wearing of hair cover).

d.Ensure good housekeeping at all times.(Important)

6.PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

a.Ensure optimum utilisation of labour at all times.

b.Ensure that the right numbers of people are assigned to a particular work.

c.Ensure that workers are trained adequately on the job

d.Ensure that workers go on leave at the right time and are replaced with competent people.

e.See to the welfare of all workers.

f.Ensure team meetings (5min pep talk i.e. by 7:45am) are held on a daily basis.(This is to create an awareness of the job and build up Team spirit)
