The products have ranged from Global File Virtualization and Migrations, VMware P2V and ESX VM Image backup and restore, Internet Services Monitoring, Application Monitoring, Network Device Monitoring, Application Performance Analysis, Network Services, Managed Hosting, Server Co-location, Web Analytics, Network Management Software, Content Distribution Networks (CDN), Linux Clusters and HPC (High Performance Computing), and BURA. Reason for leaving: My contract wasn’t extended due to Avamar not making their PS utilization numbers for Q4.
Brocade Communications, San Jose, CA Dec 2007 – Oct 2008
Position: Sr. Systems Engineer. Provide in-depth technical pre and post-sales support account teams regarding StorageX operation and deployment, as well as competitive products. Collect customer environmental information required to design and deploy a StorageX solution. Prepare and document infrastructure solutions for the customer and assist in the preparation of Brocade's response to customer RFP. Deliver StorageX solutions in customer’s environment, working with Project Manager to ensure timely completion of all components of the project. These products were Microsoft Windows specific and required extensive Windows AD and DFS knowledge and expertise.
Reason for leaving: Entire Sales and Marketing groups were eliminated.
EMC Corporation, Santa Clara, CA Dec 2006 – December 2007
Position: Avamar Resident @ Cisco. Provide in-depth implementation of Avamar, a disk based backup solution using data de-duplication for Cisco’s “REB” (Remote Engineering Backup) project. Build, configured, and installed approximately 250 servers which comprised approximately 20 clusters, for 12 remote sites, and 2 hub locations for Cisco.

Position: Technical consultant. Provide in-depth technical pre and post-sales support to EMC account teams regarding Rainfinity operation and deployment, as well as competitive products. Collect customer environmental information required to design and deploy a Rainfinity solution. Prepare and document infrastructure solutions for the customer and assist in the preparation of EMC's response to customer RFP. Deliver Rainfinity solutions in customer’s environment, working with Project Manager to ensure timely completion of all components of the project.
Aircraft Technical Publishers, Brisbane, CA (Contract) July 2005 – March 2006
Position: Sr. Systems and Network Engineer. Internal systems and network configuration duties to support internal end users and external customers. Designed and built an offsite data center (365 Main, San Francisco) for DR and distributed deployment, and a CDN for providing PDF and other Aircraft Maintenance Documents to customers using the Akamai service. Wrote scripts to push newly changed documents to the Akamai staging servers for upload. Supported a custom installation of ATP’s software for Citation Aircraft for their own in-house use and deployment. Support for Windows, Linux, and Solaris based servers.
QS Technology, San Jose, CA June 2004 – February 2005
Position: Director of Systems Engineering. Management and Systems Engineering support for Quadrics products for high speed interconnects in the HPC (High Performance Computing) Linux cluster environment.
Accomplishments: Pre and Post sales activities including evaluations, installation, and support of clusters ranging in size from 8 to 1,000. Hands on kernel configurations and installations of the Quadrics software drivers for Red Hat and SuSE Linux distributions. Supported both 32 and 64 bit platforms and Operating Systems (EM64T, Opteron, Itanium, Xeon) for customer requirements. Developed Visio drawings and cable layouts for RFI’s and Quotes. Built a 4 node test cluster to bench-mark HPC applications; Pallas, MPICH, LS-Dyna, Fluent, P-Coms, and pre-qualified compute nodes from Sun, HP, Super Micro, Dell, SGI, and Intel. Pre-sales evaluations with Boeing, Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, Scyld Computer Systems, Verari Systems, Rackable Systems, and Syracuse University.
Products: Quadrics line of High Performance Network cards and switches.

Position: Senior Technical Consultant. Responsible for pre-sales consulting, proof-of-concepts, and implementations of Network Services Monitoring Solution using Agilent OSS “Quality of Service Manager”. Territory was North America.
Accomplishments: Successfully designed and deployed Internet Monitoring Solutions for Cisco, NEC Systems, Verizon Wireless, and AT&T Wireless. The AT&T Wireless implementation leveraged their existing Casabyte RCATS probes located in 37 North American Regions providing network connectivity into the AT&T Wireless Network. QoS Manager gave AT&T Wireless NRT (Near Real Time) access to this data so they could manage / fix problems areas of their network in a more timely fashion.
