EXPERTISE AREAS

Human Resource Administration

• Employment - Recruits and interviews applicants for job positions. Process new hire paperwork and performs new hire orientation. Scheduled and managed annual hearing conservation tests, annual safety shoe and safety glasses programs. Maintains OSHA 300 record and EEOC affirmative action documentation. Supports all plant and warehouse HR activities. Experience with union and non-union work environments.

• Employee Relations – Administration of new hire orientation. Works with and advises employees as to their FMLA benefits and company policy concerning use of vacation time and short term disability. Monitors attendance system and supports disciplinary action. Creation of vacation / PPD spreadsheet to fulfill plant informational requirements to track time available, mandatory full-week vacation requirement and FMLA policy.

• Benefits Administration - Provides answers to employee benefit questions, maintains and completes benefits information including medical insurance, flexible spending plans, disability plans, 401(k) plans, and manages FMLA for employees. Participated in FMLA, American’s with Disabilities and Employment Verification training. Processing termination of benefits including 401K disbursements for retirees and terminated employees. Maintaining self-administered COBRA.

• Worker’s Compensation - Handle first report of injury for worker’s compensation claims. Primary contact for doctor and 3rd party administrator. Worked with safety coordinator to reduce injury rates.

• Community Outreach - Coordinated United Way activities and was able to increase donations by 78% over a two year period.

• Activities Committee Chair - Works with cross functional teams of 10 employees to successfully organize Christmas and summer outings with a 50% increase in employee participation.

• General Accounting – Education and proficient working knowledge in general accounting, book-keeping, vendor payment, petty cash, reconciling and cash flow management. Maintained confidentiality and safe keeping of proprietary information. Issued financial reports.

• Payroll Administration - Processing $14 million in annual payroll, covering facilities located in Tennessee and Virginia. Payrolls include, exempt, non-exempt salary positions Previously processed payrolls for a union plant and one non-union plant, having separate pay rules and regulations. Maintained all payroll records, including pay increases, benefit changes and transfers.

• Payroll Integration - Successfully completed conversion of payroll systems from a Paychex platform to ADP platform within specified timeframe. Currently working with Open Systems to integrate with Attendance Enterprise timecard reporting software.

Work Experience

Human Resources Administrator, House Hasson Hardware Knoxville June 2010 - Current

• Human Resources Management – Responsibility for employee recruiting, applicant processing and documentation retention. Supervise Payroll Clerk. Process multiple state tax withholding. Oversee two off-site locations as well as main facility. Distribution of quarterly board disbursements and officer medical records and reimbursement. Update and revise Policy and Procedure manual.

• Maintain OSHA Log and FMLA processing for approximately 350 employees located in Knoxville, TN. Process health care benefits for 450 employees in Knoxville and Pritchard, VA location. Revise employee handbook and ensure legal compliance with applicable human resources, federal and state requirements.

Human Resources Generalist, Vacumet Corporation Morristown 2004 - 2009

• Human Resources Management – Coordinate corporate compliance of multi-state locations, structuring pay and benefits to follow corporate directives.. Coaching and working with employees on continuous improvement and FMLA, absenteeism.

• Generalist function for approximately 200 employees within the metalized paper division for Morristown, Tennessee and Franklin Massachusetts

• Ran office with three staff members to process writer’s novels for presentation and publication to major publishing houses. Successfully placed several books in audio, paperback and hardcover formats.

• MIS manager of three department employees, for a secondary automotive small parts manufacturer.

• Promoted on average every eighteen months until plant closure. Initially worked in the cost

accounting department, promoted to payroll and computer system operator; then sequentially as programmer; programmer analyst and MIS manager. Each department manager was responsible for maintaining their own departments’ disciplinary documentation and recruitment.
