Federal District Court Patent Cases
• Fastenetix, LLC v. Medtronic Sofamor Danek, Inc. and Medtronic Sofamor Danek USA, Inc. (D.N. J.) - Counsel for plaintiff Fastenetix (currently pending). Handled damages portion of multi-patent suit involving multi-axial pedicle screws for spinal implants. Settled favorably for Client.
• Matsushita Electrical Industrial Co., Ltd. v. CMC Magnetics Corp., Hotan Corp., KHyperMedia Corp. (N.D. Cal.) - Counsel for CMC Magnetics, Hotan, and KHyperMedia. Successfully defended CMC Magnetics, Hotan, and KHyperMedia in a three-patent suit brought by Matsushita on recordable and rewritable optical disc technology. The case settled favorably for the defendants.
• TimeCertain, LLC v. AuthentiDate Holding Corp. and AuthentiDate, Inc. (M.D. Fla.) - Counsel for AuthentiDate. Successfully defended AuthentiDate in a multi-patent suit against TimeCertain. Case involved software cryptography technology.
• ImagExpo LLC v. Microsoft (E.D. Va.) - Represented ImagExpo in litigation involving Microsoft’s NetMeeting, in which a jury awarded ImagExpo $62.3 million in compensatory damages, as well as a finding that Microsoft willfully infringed ImagExpo’s patent.
• MicroUnity Systems Engineering, Inc. v. Intel Corp. (E.D. Tex.) – Settled patent infringement against Intel involving claims in a multi-patent case brought by MicroUnity. Case involved microprocessor and microprocessor chipset technology.
International Trade Commission Cases
• Certain Optical Disc Controller Chips and Chipsets and Products Containing Same, Including DVD Players and PC Optical Storage Devices II (USITC) - Participated as trial counsel for MediaTek, Inc. in patent infringement suit against Zoran Corporation, Oak Technology, Inc. and Sunext Technology Co., Ltd. Case involved three patents relating to optical disc drive controller technology.
• Certain Color Television Receivers and Color Display Monitors and Components Thereof (USITC) - Successfully prosecuted patent infringement claims through a full trial in a multi-patent suit against BenQ Corporation and AU Optronics Corporation. The matter settled favorably for Thomson before a decision issued. Case involved LCD panel processing and circuitry technology.

• TCAD project using PISCES to examine DC parametrics and capacitance characteristics of MOSFETs.
• Devised method of extracting Leff from .25 m MOSFETs by reverse modeling of the overlap capacitance.
• Assisted with SUPREM and PISCES simulations to improve performance of a supersteep channel profile in MOSFETs.
• Drafted Master’s thesis using research results.
