Resume:

CAROL A. BIDWELL

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*** ******* **., **** *******, Calif. 93041 805-***-**** *******@***.***

Hello:

I'm an award-winning, dynamic, prolific newspaper veteran in a world where newspapers are becoming increasingly irrelevant.

I've learned many useful skills along the way, and I'm eager to use them to take my career in a new direction that would benefit a company in need of a mature outlook and management skills.

In addition to writing and editing, I'm a highly organized person who can manage, supervise, motivate, attend to detail and quality, and deal with the public and with less experienced workers.

I look forward to telling you more in an interview.

Very truly yours,

Carol A. Bidwell

SKILLS:

Management skills: Have managed as many as 40 workers, motivating and directing their work. Successfully completed a year of management classes, and have experience in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, disciplining, motivating and firing. A believer in teamwork, I've found that people who understand they are working together to complete a project build camaraderie, loyalty and dedication to achieving the goal. Have always been a working supervisor, leading by example, praise and constructive criticism, rather than being a manager who achieves objectives by use of fear or discipline.

Motivation: Worked with peers and younger workers to explain duties, offer tips on completing difficult assignments, how to find and approach contacts, how to work with public agencies, how to organize and pace work to meet deadlines.

Public relations: A trained interviewer, I have talked in-depth with at least 10,000 people, from jail prisoners to housewives to factory workers to local growers to lawyers and government officials. I'm a prize-winning writer and photographer. Can represent a company in outside contacts as well as dealing with workers inside the company.

Knowledge of Ventura County: Have lived here since 1961 and am familiar with many of the area's businesses, points of interest and major industries. Have written extensively about the county's history, as well as about many of its people. Have worked with many public officials and have a good knowledge of local government.

Technological skills: Own and operate my own Canon digital camera and Dell computer. Have a working knowledge of SII, SSI, CSI and Coyote computers. I have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and am taking classes in Excel.

Desire to achieve: A hard worker, seeks clear directions, works to understand and achieve goals, self-directed, must be satisfied with whatever job I do.

More unusual skills: Can operate a power drill, bake prize-winning cakes, jump-start a car, help birth a litter of kittens, and I'm a dead shot with a .38-caliber revolver.
