Procurement and External Manufacturing (EM) positions (2000 – 2012)

Successfully resolved long standing dysfunctional departmental and cross functional issues within the Indirect Capital, Energy and External Manufacturing departments within the Procurement organization.

Appointed as EM lead for the strategic re-design of the EM Procurement Department in 2003; worked cross functionally with Manufacturing and Global VP’s to provide critical direction and leadership as how to merge EM from separate Procurement and Manufacturing organizations to one organization under Global Procurement.

Director, External Manufacturing, Foodservice Business Unit (2008 – 2012)

Completed the EM department redesign. EM managers are now accountable for total contract and product Quality, Cost, Delivery and on par with internal manager expectations. Successfully delivered multiple EM buying strategies and sourcing partners, flawless commercialization and 3-5% annual cost reduction delivery ($13-20MM)

Energy: North America, 1 Buyer, procurement and contracting of all Gas and Electric spends for 100 North American plants and strategic consolidation with a new single service provider.

• Redesigned department for better alignment with Engineering and other functions for all NA capital and energy expenditures to enable transactional speed, simplicity and strategic sourcing

Established headquarters level credentials as a multi-plant Operations business professional able deliver Safety, Cost, Quality and Service leadership along with flawless new product commercialization expertise.

Director, Operations Business Teams, Cultured and other cheese products, Glenview IL (1992 – 2000)

Primary Operations representative to the VP or Director of the related Business Category. Owned all Operational P&L product costs and associated variances. Developed and executed the Cultured plant consolidation strategy and delivered 3-5% COGS in cost reduction annually. Worked across 7 plants to meet or exceed individual plant or divisional KPI’s in Safety, Quality, Cost, Service and new product commercialization. Responsible for building annual bottom-up, multi-plant budgeting and performance plans to reach divisional goals (annual $7-10MM Capital and $100MM Fixed budget). Primary Operations lead focused on new product development and flawless commercialization from idea to market across Ice cream and Frozen yogurt, Cool Whip and Pudding Pop brands. Serviced 6 US Frozen product plants and also provided HQ functional support in resolving Quality, Engineering, R&D, Procurement or customer service issues related to products.

Kraft Field Positions – Cottage cheese, Sour cream and Dips (1980 – 1989)

Established credentials within the company as a plant operations expert in Cultured products through exceptional performance in all positions held (Sanitation, Quality, Plant Management).

Production Manager, Farmdale, OH (1985 – 1989)

Led plant from last to first among 7 Cultured plants in all Divisional operational KPI’s resulting in:

• Cultured Plant of the Year performance awards in 1987, 1989, 1990.

• 60MM annual volume: 40 MM Cottage cheese, 20MM Sour cream, $30MM fixed budget, 65 employees, Teamsters

Quality Manager, Walton, NY (1984 – 1985)

Again had to trouble-shoot issues on a larger scale, then modify and re-establish Quality programs that led to 100% Quality KPI compliance across all Quality programs. Also owned PMO/USPH and Environmental Waste water compliance

Quality Manager, Farmdale, OH (1981 - 1984)

Owned and continued to drive significant improvement across all Quality programs, including Sanitation, PMO/USPH and Waste water Environmental compliance.

Operations Supervisor, Farmdale, OH (1980 – 1981)

Midnight shift Sanitation and cheese make. Troubleshot issues then established new Sanitation programs that led to 100% micro compliance and increased product shelf life.

BORDEN, INC., Dairy and Services, Stratford, CT 1977 – 1979

Distribution Manager,

100M Gallon/day fluid plant, 35 distribution employees, 140 daily routes, Fluid milk, juices, shake mixes and re-distributed Cultured products for the New England service area. Responsible for Finished Goods inventory and order fulfillment for Wholesale, Distributor and Home Delivery routes.
