Director of Pharmacy
Responsible for all the aspects of a Director of Pharmacy in a long term acute hospital intensive care setting. The position is multifaceted consisting of three parts, directorship, clinical and staff. The directorship includes all the licensure, economic, staff and regulatory decisions, which was highlighted by a facility relocation, Board of Health inspection and JACHO accreditation. Some of the duties include the programming and functional maintenance of the Meddispense server and dispenser, collection of performance improvement indicators for future JACHO inspections and implementing a 24 hour on-call service. The clinical faction consists of leading the P & T committee, passing recommendations for formulary implementation, leading pharmacy orientation for new employees, collection of clinical tracers for future JACHO inspections and providing pharmaceutical education for all pharmacy and nursing employees. The last part involves the dispensing of medication by a licensed practitioner consisting of order entry, cassette filling and IV preparation. The directorship is the second ranked position at this hospital, only answering to the facility’s CEO.

Responsible for the function of a Director of Pharmacy in a 110 bed mental hospital setting. The duties include personnel supervision, formulary formation and implementation, dispensing daily floor unit-dose drug cassettes, daily drug order entry, recommendations to P & T committee, taking narcotic inventory, implementing drug utilization and inventory control, providing physician drug information and dispensing outpatient and employee prescriptions. The Director of Pharmacy - Boonton position includes reporting directly to the St. Clare’s Medical Center primary director in Denville, being part of a 500 bed hospital network.
