• Identifying suitable and economical technologies for carbon dioxide and methane separation so that the technology could be implemented on a commercial scale.

• Important technologies identified were Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA), Membrane Separation among others.

• Setting up a laboratory scale pilot plant to study the behavioural characteristics of the gases using such technologies upon separation.

Consultant: Worked as a SAP FICO consultant for V-Soft Consulting Inc, Louisville, Kentucky.

• Worked as a Functional Consultant in the implementation of SAP FICO for the client company (mostly manufacturing industries).

• Converting the client’s financial records from non SAP to SAP environment.

• Studying the various types of distillation methods available and selecting the most suitable (highest recovery) for the separation of benzene-cyclohexane mixture.

• Selection of a suitable solvent from the list of available solvents based on the vapour-liquid equilibrium measurements, cost and other physico-chemical properties.

• Building the complete extractive distillation set up in the laboratory and performing various experimental sets to get the highest recovery rate possible by comparing the viscosity of pure cyclohexane to that of the condensate by Gas Chromatography.

Intern: Undertook In-plant Training at Extractive Distillation Unit of the World’s Largest Refinery viz Reliance Petrochemical Limited, Jamnagar, Gujarat.

Responsibilities Included:

• Studying the working of the Extractive Distillation Unit in the Aromatics department of the refinery.

• Studying the Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) of the unit.

• Accompanying plant officials during onsite visits for regular maintenance and checkups of various equipments such as the pumps, condensers, heat exchangers, boilers, etc.

• Studying and maintaining the optimum conditions like temperature, pressure of the reactor, BTX flow rate etc required for the maximum and most efficient separation.

• Theoretically studied and accompanied plant officials in the working of the DCS system.
