• Presently- early retirement due to chronic illness; I have worked as a freelance writer, editor, proofreader, researcher, and fact-checker. I have recently worked as the author of educational books and test items for various publishers.

Accomplishments

Since retiring I have written a child development book for the Thomson Education Direct Company for use with their online early childhood education program.

I have written several education-oriented articles for professional journals, including Educational Leadership for Georgia.

An essay I wrote about seeing my grandson for the first time was published in February, 2004 in ePregnancy, the most popular and best-selling pregnancy magazine in the U.S.

Another of my essays was published in the May, 2005, issue of the Christian Woman Magazine along with an eight-lesson study about women in the Bible that I wrote.

Bible studies of mine were published in Christian Woman Magazine in November of 2005.

I have taught every level of learner from first grade to master’s level education students. I have had over 30 years’ practice writing lessons plans and editing students’ papers and feel that I am especially strong in this area.

I served as a fact-checker for a children's encyclopedia published by Publications International, Ltd. and as a researcher and fact-checker for best-selling author, Ed Strachar.

My projects include writing the classroom management chapter in a review guide for the National Teacher Certification for Anaxos Publishing of Austin, TX (Acing the ABCTE) and also writing a staff development course about chronic pain for nursing assistants. I completed a project for Remedia Publications in which I wrote leveled biographies for 3rd and 4th graders. I targeted the reading level using the Fleisch-Kincaid Readability Scale. I also authored a set of Science Task Cards for grades 4 & 5 for Remedia Publications. I have also completed a project about using graphic organizers and genre focus for Setting Pace West publishers, a contractor of Glencoe Publishing. Some of my most recent work has been completing a set of leveled reading review cards designed to test the student’s ability to reach appropriate conclusions and making correct inferences for Remedia Publications. I have written books about American government, Mexican government, and Canadian government aimed at 5th and 6th readers for Classroom Complete Publishers. My book, Peter’s Prescriptions for Modern Christians is being published by Publishing Designs in Huntsville, AL. I recently wrote an online 4th grade writing program for Learning Express, LLC. I also completed a reading assessment project for Macmillan McGraw-Hill Publishing Company and a glossary project for Education.com.
